Function of Position:

This position enables the library staff to maintain the resources and maintenance required daily to continue to provide the best patron experience and student support possible. In addition, the position serves to help students gain job-ready skills for post-graduation employment and/or further higher education.

This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

Amongst other common job-related expectations, student assistants will prioritize customer service, i.e. helping patrons at the circulation desk but will also be assigned other tasks including circulation duties, shelf/stack maintenance, ILL retrieval, and project assignments.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

+ Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative)

+ No previous library experience is necessary; however, this position is ground in customer service and so students must have the desire to connect to a diverse community, be student-centered, and have a genuine concern to help.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Previous customer service experience

+ Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Pay Rate: $15.50/hour

Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/week
