HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER- CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT** has an outstanding opportunity for a **CENTRAL PROCESSING MANAGER(Manager of Sterile processing).** to join us at our **NEW** **UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center.** **WORK SCHEDULE
+ Day Shift **DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION** The **UW Medicine Outpatient Surgery Center at Harborview** is a five operating room surgical unit with supporting pre-operative, post-operative, and sterile processing departments. The anticipated opening date to patients is January 2026. **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS** The Central Processing Manager is responsible for directing the NJB Central Processing Unit by providing equipment and sterilized instrumentation to the NJB Operating Rooms. The Central Processing Manager will also ensure the department will meet or exceed the JCAHO requirements and that the department be maintained in a cost-effective manner. Oversee and manage the activities of Central Processing, its functions, operations and services which include central decontamination and sterile processing of reusable instruments and equipment used throughout the NJB Operating Rooms. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Assure the standards of operation of the department are in compliance with the standards set by regulatory agencies, such as the state Department of Health, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
+ Design, implement and evaluate systems to support patient care. Collaborate and promote team building with all disciplines and departments.
+ Mentor, coach, and develop Central Sterile Technicians.
+ Respond promptly to department needs.
+ Monitor employee productivity. Provide staffing appropriate for workload and case volume. Track use of instruments and loss prevention efforts.
+ Hire, supervise, counsel, discipline and terminate staff in collaboration with the Operative Services Director.
+ Participate in writing, reviewing and revising department/service policies and procedures. **REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** Professional Certificate in Central Sterile ProcessingANDFour years Experience in Sterile Processing units, experience in Management of staff preferably in sterile processing environmentOREquivalent combination of education and experience **ABOUT THE OUTPATIENT SURGERY CENTER** The new **Outpatient Surgery Center** opening on the Harborview Campus is located on the 4th floor of Ninth and Jefferson Building (NJB) and will open January 2026 to patients. The Surgery Center will feature 5 operating rooms, 12 pre/post bays, and sterile processing. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday with no holidays, weekends, or night hours. The Center will offer same-day surgery procedures utilizing state-of–the-art equipment to our community of patients that meet the necessary criteria. This reflects the Center’s innovative, patient-centered culture, supporting ongoing operational efficiencies and quality improvements. The goal is to provide a seamless, low-stress surgical experience for each patient, surgeon, and staff member.
