Student Life has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Student Conduct and Advocacy to join their team.

The Director of Student Conduct and Advocacy serves as the delegated authority of the Chancellor of University of Washington Tacoma to initiate conduct proceedings, engage in fact finding, hold hearings, and issue initial orders under the Student Conduct Code - WAC 478-121. This position will also provide oversight and direction for staff in the Office of Student Advocacy and Support as well as the Food Pantry.

The individual serving in this capacity will have to understand the Washington Administrative Code as it pertains to UW students, as well as understanding agency-level policies and procedures regarding the code outlined in Student Governance Policies, specifically Chapter 209 and 210. Serving as vice-chair of the Consultation Assessment Response Education (CARE) team requires nuanced understanding of behavior and making decisions for the well being of students and the broader community.

The individual serving in this position will coordinate with Conduct Offices at both Seattle and Bothell campuses to ensure that student rights and University expectations are protected. The Director will provide leadership for educating the campus on Student Conduct Code and the processes associated with it, and create outreach for CARE and Advocacy processes under the direction of the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life. This position will also maintain a high profile both on and off campus to create partnership under Student Advocacy and Support to create mechanisms for success for students.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Student Conduct Administration (40%)

+ Serve as the chief conduct officer for UW Tacoma - investigate and resolve all alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code per Student Governance Policies Chapter 209.

+ As conduct officer, participate in all trainings with the conduct officers within the UW system.

+ Manage databases related to processing student conduct cases.Management and Supervision (25%)

+ Provide managerial oversight of the Office of Student Advocacy and Support, including direct supervision and evaluation of the Assistant Director of Student Advocacy and Support.

+ Provide managerial oversight of the Food Pantry, including direct supervision and evaluation of the Program Support Supervisor (Pantry Manager).

+ Function as the chief deputy to the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life, and lead the Student Life team in the absence of the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor.Student Care and Concern (20%)

+ Serve as the vice chair the CARE team under the direction of the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life.

+ Coordinate and serve on the professional staff on-call rotation schedule for after hour emergency and crisis situations.

+ Train CARE team members in the proper use of conduct databases to manage case load.

+ Serve as backup to the Assistant Director of Student Advocacy and Support in assisting with case management support to students.

+ Assist with Emergency Aid application decisions on UW Tacoma team with Financial Aid and Office of Student Advocacy and Support.Training and Educational Outreach (15%)

+ Coordinate educational outreach for all faculty, staff, and students about the use of Student Life resources, such as Office of Student Advocacy and Support, CARE Team, Student Conduct process.

+ In conjunction with Title IX requirements, plan outreach around SafeCampus process as well as education around sexual violence prevention, and sharing of resources for the greater campus community about assistance available for those who may have experienced sexual violence or harassment.

+ Represent UW Tacoma on the Advisory Committee for Student Conduct, a system wide committee that looks at Code revisions, as well as process assessment. -Serve on the Bias Incident Response Committee. -Serve on the Reinstatement Committee for students who are applying to be reinstated.

+ Create and plan Student Life professional staff trainings - annual summer retreat and mid-year check-in. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

+ Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field, and a minimum of three years’ experience providing effective leadership in the development, implementation, and assessment of student conduct and academic integrity programs and service. _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._ **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a multicultural and diverse environment.

+ Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

+ Proven ability to work independently and in teams. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Five years of progressive experience in student conduct administration are preferred.
