    PART TIME RESEARCH SCHOLAR

    New York University Tandon School of Engineering

     

    The Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering Department at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Part time Research Scholar to work in the labs of the Hubbell Group.

The Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering department is at the forefront of solving global challenges, from advancing renewable energy technologies to pioneering innovative healthcare solutions. Researchers and students in the department work collaboratively to address critical issues in energy, healthcare, and the environment, using cutting-edge approaches in molecular science and engineering. The Hubbell Research Group focuses on developing cutting-edge biomaterials and protein engineering to investigate regenerative medicine and immunotherapeutics.

    Expectations

    + Candidates will be responsible for the design and execution of computational and experimental studies to explore immune system dynamics and therapeutic interventions.

    + Develop and apply biophysical and bioinformatics models to analyze immune responses. Identify and validate novel biomarkers and molecular targets for therapeutic development.

    + Perform high-throughput screening of immune-modulating compounds and their effects.

    + Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, bioengineers, and computational biologists.

    + Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.

    + Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques and research methodologies.

    + Contribute to grant writing and funding applications to support ongoing research initiatives.

     

    The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in translational immunology with expertise in computational modeling and/or experimental immunoengineering techniques as exemplified by a strong publication record. Previous experience on flow cytometry, single-cell sequencing, and immunoassays is preferred. Proficiency in computational tools such as MATLAB, Python, R, or machine learning applications in immunology is desired.

     

    Salary range

     

    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is an hourly rate of $50.00 depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.

     

    Expected start date and period of employment

     

    Expected start date is July 14th. This position is expected to be for 12 months. Part time appointments would require a work schedule of approximately 20-35 hours per week.

     

    Candidates should have at least a MS in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Immunology or a related field and 2-4 years of experience. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
