Ultrasound Technician (Sonographer)
Summary:
Vighter is seeking several Ultrasound (US) Technologists (Sonographers) to provide patient care support at the George E. Whalen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, located in Salt Lake City, Utah at 500 Foothill Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84148. Ultrasound (US) Technologists are responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients to ensure that the quality of the studies adhere to established standards. The Ultrasound Tech will perform other functions as determined by the Supervisor in expediting the care of the patient.
Principle Accountabilities:
+ Operates Ultrasound system and ancillary equipment to perform Ultrasound examinations.
+ Follows exam protocols, defines optimal protocols, and devises alternative ways to visualize pathology within the patient.
+ Responsible for providing all regularly performed Sonography/Ultrasound/Vascular Ultrasound Radiology procedures at the VASLCHCS.
+ Responsible for providing care across the range of Radiology Technologist services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility. The standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards.
+ Familiar with Interventional Radiology procedures to perform invasive exams such as biopsies and drainages.
+ Expected to be able to critique images for optimal quality and use PACS to transmit images for Radiologist interpretation.
+ Must be able to perform common exams listed below:
+ AAA Screens
+ Abdomen Complete/No Aorta
+ Abdomen Limited
+ Right Upper Quadrant
+ Renal
+ Pelvic
+ US Guided IR Procedures
+ Must be continuously on the alert to the patient’s condition and other disorders. Adverse reactions on the part of the patient require immediate attention so that harm does not come to the patient or equipment.
+ Ensures that all documentation required for the completion of exams is done in VISTA CPRS.
+ Must be certain patient identification and requests are identical.
+ Validates all images and corrects incorrect information prior to sending to VISTA for interpretation by the Radiologist. If deletion for VISTA is required, the proper documentation must be presented for deletion of images from the medical record through the PACS Administrator and/or ADPAC Coordinator.
+ Help to maintain effective control for the Radiology Department by coordinating, organizing and executing the work potential to expedite workflow patterns with the department.
+ Continuously works to develop a cohesive and effective team with other areas of the Radiology Department and with other areas of the entire facility to expedite quality patient care.
+ Ensures that adequate quantities of supplies for general Radiology are available to meet workload demands.
+ Assures that procedure rooms are always stocked with necessary supplies, with special attention to emergent equipment and supplies. Alerts supervisor when supplies are needed.
+ Must recognize and report major equipment malfunctions within a timely manner
+ Ensures that all equipment is in proper working order prior to use.
+ Removes and tags defective equipment and notifies DRT Supervisor or Chief Technologist.
Requirements:
+ Education:Graduate from an approved School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
+ Experience:Minimum two-year experience in specialty.
+ Certification:ARMDS Certification.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS).
+ License:Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted license in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S and/or certification as required.
