    Job Description

    To receive, order and prepare anatomical, cytological and histological samples for assays, tests, routine and complex procedures, in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner under review by technologist, supervisor and/or pathologist.

     

    Education And Credentials

     

    AA or AS in a Certified Histological Technician program or Medical technology program required. Lab Technician LP, or Histological Technician LP, or Lab Technician within 9 Months, or Lab Technologist within 9 months, or Histological Technician within 9 Months required. Histological Technician (ASCP)within 2 years upon hire required. NYS DOE-Clinical Laboratory Technician, Certified Histological Technician, or Lab Technologist license required OR lab technician or histological technician limited permit required not necessarily prior to hire, however prior to starting. If working with limited permit, must obtain full licensure within 9 months of hire.

    Experience

    1 year clinical lab experience in area of testing preferred.
