Summary:

Meta is seeking a Planning & Capacity Engineer to join the Infrastructure Supply Chain and Engineering (ISCE) Planning team to focus on planning optimization for all of Meta’s infrastructure (Servers, Data Centers, Network) supply chain. This role will focus on creating and optimizing supply chain plans at variance altitudes to balance capacity, flexibility, supply, and cost, from base components to finished goods, in an environment of continual product introduction, directly managing billions of investment annually. We will do this primarily by building software and mathematical optimization models, not manual planning. The team is uniquely positioned to develop and optimize these capacity plans and scalably manage exceptions at the most strategic levels with company level impact.This role is very cross-functional and provides an opportunity to work with a variety of engineering and business teams to power the rapid growth of Meta’s products. This role will help to ensure optimal deployment and operation of our infrastructure from both a cost and technology perspective, with millions of servers, gigawatts of data center capacity, and cutting edge technology including advanced AI. Required Skills:

Planning and Capacity Engineer Responsibilities:

1. Own infrastructure supply chain planning for Meta (as part of Meta’s overall capacity plan): including servers, network, and data center equipment from components to finished goods

2. Design improvements to software systems to improve supply chain planning efficiency and quality, partner with software engineers to implement and contribute code yourself

3. Develop and analyze business and technical data and scenarios to drive executive decisions around infrastructure supply and spend

4. Contribute to end to end supply chain planning processes (as part of Meta’s overall capacity plan), methodologies, and data to deliver an executable and optimized supply plan

5. Manage and resolve critical escalations and exceptions in all areas of the supply chain

6. Critique demand signals curated by upstream teams, and build an anticipatory demand view for ISCE through mathematical modeling and business judgement

7. Influence and interweave technology strategy and transitions into planning models

8. Develop and code models that drive supply flexibility and optionality to best balance delivery of required capacity, cost, and risk

9. Build mathematical models to perform simulation and optimization studies of demand projections, scenario planning, and gap closure analysis while balancing constraints, product mixes and inventory costs

10. Work cross-functionally to define problem statements, collect data, build analytical models and make recommendations to drive change and optimization at the most strategic levels

11. Partner across Infra - platform teams, server hardware engineering, network engineering, data center engineering, operations, capacity planning, networking planning, data center planning, energy - to find the most optimal ways to build and scale our Infrastructure

12. Partner with Finance to balance cost efficiency with technical, product and supply chain considerations

Minimum Qualifications:

13. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta

14. 4+ years of experience in performance or software engineering and/or optimization pertinent data science

15. 4+ years of experience in designing and implementing models and optimization algorithms

16. 2+ years of experience in coding/scripting languages such as Python, R, Java, C, C++, PHP

17. 2+ years of experience in supply chain management - planning, manufacturing, operations, inventory, etc

18. Experience working with distributed systems at scale

19. Experience in supply chain planning optimization

20. Experience in infrastructure operations and technical infrastructure knowledge

21. Experience working with cross-functional teams

22. Experience managing ambiguity

23. MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Supply Chain Analytics or other technical field

24. Track record of success in planning for a complex supply chain environment

26. Experience interfacing with internal and external partners in an constantly evolving and cross-functional environment. Proven track record of effective judgment while coordinating people and technical resources

Public Compensation:

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
