Brief Description of Duties: SUNY Morrisville is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Associate Director to support its Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C/STEP), a New York State Education Department-funded initiative. The C/STEP designation reflects SUNY Morrisville's commitment to serving both CSTEP (college-level students) and STEP (students in grades 7-12), with the goal of increasing access, persistence, and success in STEM fields and licensed professions for historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students.
The Associate Director will support both components of the program - providing direct advisement, mentorship, and career development opportunities to CSTEP students, while also assisting STEP Liaisons in coordinating enriching STEM exposure opportunities for secondary students. This dual-focus role is ideal for a professional committed to educational equity, community collaboration, and student empowerment across age groups.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Work collaboratively with the C/STEP Director to ensure program goals are met, support strategic planning, and foster alignment between secondary and postsecondary initiatives
+ Assist the Program Coordinator with academic advisement, student case management, and progress monitoring for CSTEP college students.
+ Support career exposure efforts and coordinate professional development workshops for STEP and CSTEP participants.
+ Collaborate with STEP Liaisons to support enrichment activities and STEM exposure events for students in grades 7-12.
+ Participate in student recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for both STEP and CSTEP programs.
+ Contribute to program planning, data collection, and NYSED grant reporting.
+ Supervise peer mentors, student interns, and part-time staff as needed.
+ Foster partnerships with faculty, staff, and K-12 community partners to enhance programming.
+ Represent C/STEP at campus events, statewide meetings, and professional conferences.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Education, STEM, Social Sciences, or a related field.
+ 2+ years of experience working with historically underrepresented or underserved student populations in educational settings.
+ Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
+ Demonstrated commitment to educational access, equity, and student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's Degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, STEM, or a related field.
+ Familiarity with CSTEP, STEP, or other access-based opportunity programs.
+ Experience with program coordination, grant-funded initiatives, and student development.
+ Understanding of NYSED reporting requirements and program compliance.
