    DESCRIPTION

    We are looking for a talented **Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician - Level II - 2nd Shift** to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.

    In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

    + **Ensuring Test Accuracy** : By preparing test articles meticulously, you'll ensure that tests are conducted accurately and reliably.

    + **Optimizing Equipment Functionality:** Your efforts in setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining test stands and lab equipment will keep operations running smoothly.

    + **Effective Preparation:** Preparing test articles, fixtures, rigs, and equipment will ensure readiness for testing and reduce delays in the testing schedule.

    + **Quality Assurance:** Your knowledge of both the product under test and the testing process will minimize errors and enhance overall output quality.

    + **Continuous Improvement:** Actively addressing issues and maintaining laboratory efficiency will help refine testing methods and equipment functionality.

    + **Supporting Team Goals:** By performing additional duties as needed, you'll demonstrate flexibility and contribute to broader team objectives.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    To be successful in this role you will need the following:

    + **Expertise in Test System Design:** Develop a deep understanding of test standards, lab requirements, and equipment specifications to select, integrate, and assess appropriate systems effectively.

    + **Proficiency in Test Setup and Configuration** : Hone your ability to interpret test plans and establish optimal test environments, considering safety, environmental requirements, and material suitability.

    + **Strong Assembly Skills:** Master the process of building test articles according to requirements, ensuring proper installation of instrumentation to facilitate successful functional testing.

    + **Preventative Maintenance Knowledge** : Cultivate strategies for interpreting machine and tool maintenance data, enabling you to execute preventative and predictive maintenance that drives process improvement.

    + **Data Management Acumen** : Enhance your ability to identify, understand, and correct data flaws to maintain high-quality information for operational decision-making.

    + **Effective Problem-Solving Skills** : Develop a systematic approach to trace, analyze, and resolve

    + **Attention to Safety and Precision:** Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards throughout testing processes, maintaining high precision in setup and operations.

    + **Commitment to Continuous Learning:** Stay updated on industry methodologies and best practices to refine your skills and deliver consistent, impactful results.

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.

     

    Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required.

     

    This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

     

    Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Additional Information:

    The Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician - Level IIrole is a balance between hands-on mechanic work and test cell associated computer interface.

     

    This includes but is not limited to physically installing test articles, software/instrumentation setup, instrumentation data rationality checks, executing test plans, monitoring tests, initial troubleshooting of test facility issues, basic diagnostics of engine system issues, and communicating results.

     

    Technicians will also be responsible for test cell upkeep which includes test cell cleanliness/organization, basic instrumentation calibrations, and test cell preventative maintenance per a defined schedule.

     

    Technicians will be required to gain expertise in the above listed areas through On Job Training (OJT), applicable computer software training, relevant Cummins Service Training, Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) or equivalent training, along with any other applicable training our team deems necessary.

     

    In addition to the core responsibilities outlined above, the technician will be responsible for a minimum of one team function (vertical task), generating and completing relevant corrective actions, developing/documenting any new or existing work procedures within team discipline, and may facilitate team meetings on a scheduled rotation.

     

    Daily core hours for this position are 2:00PM to 10:00PM. Must be willing to work overtime, or flex time as necessary, to meet commitments.

    Compensation:

    Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
