The Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) is currently hiring a full-time Physical/Occupational Therapy & Restorative Aide at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston.
The ideal candidate will implement physical and occupational therapy plans and provide personal care to geriatric residents. Working in this position involves assisting with lifting and transferring adult residents and related work. Example of Duties:
Therapy:
+ Schedules residents for therapy
+ Implements physical therapy plans initiated by professional staff, including ambulation, range of motion, and exercise classes
+ Assists residents in the safe practice of therapy plan activities and encourages them to participate
+ Implements occupational therapy programs initiated by professional staff including feeding, eye/hand coordination, dressing program, and activities of daily living
+ Prepares equipment and ensures availability of supplies for use in therapy
+ Monitors and records residents participation, responses, and progress
+ Instructs residents and families in simple treatment procedures
+ Performs other duties as assigned
Resident care:
+ Providing personal hygiene care to geriatric residents
+ Taking and recording vital signs
+ Feeding, lifting, positioning, transporting, and escorting residents
+ Reports and documents observations made during direct resident care
+ Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of:
+ Body mechanics
Experience:
+ Monitoring and recording progress of residents' therapy
+ Taking and recording residents' vital signs
+ Observing and recording changes in residents' behaviors and symptoms
Certification:
+ Prior to hire applicants are required to have completed competency testing and be eligible for placement on the Board of Nursing state registry as a Nursing Assistant
Minimum Qualification Specialty:
+ Must have a valid regular driver's license
