    Description

    The Devices & Services Design Organization is seeking a seasoned design leader to play a key leadership role in the future of Alexa at Amazon. In this role, you will lead and grow a high-performing team of UX professionals to drive design for core aspects of the Alexa+ service, including shaping the future of ambient computing and AI for millions of customers worldwide. You'll be responsible for the vision and execution of Alexa's multimodal interaction model across key endpoints, from Echo Family of Devices to Alexa mobile app, website, and more. You will think holistically, bridging industrial design and UX design, to address critical aspects of voice and gesture interactions, sensor input handling and contextual awareness, content strategy and delivery, agentic workflows and decision intelligence, and experience continuity across endpoints and activities. At the same time, you will also work to ensure each key endpoint shines on its own as innovative customer experiences.

     

    You are a proven strategic thinker and collaborator who flourishes in a large organization. You are skilled at aligning multiple stakeholders, influencing product strategy and roadmaps at the VP+ level, and leading the vision for projects that span numerous teams. You have an eye for high quality, with iteration and experimentation core to your design process.

    Key job responsibilities

    * Lead Strategic Vision: Drive early-stage concept development and innovation for AI-powered experiences across hardware and software, establishing new paradigms for human-computer interaction that scale

    * Craft Product Narratives: Guide team in developing compelling user experiences and product stories that meaningfully connect emerging technologies with human needs and behaviors

    * Drive Cross-functional Excellence: Foster deep collaboration with product and engineering partners, leading team by example in translating complex technical possibilities and user insights into cohesive designs

    * Champion Iterative Design & Scalable Solutions: Direct rapid prototyping and experimentation to arrive at scalable solutions and bring familiarity across the Alexa service.

    * Deliver Customer Impact: Own end-to-end product design from concept through launch, ensuring high-quality execution that delights users and achieves business objectives

    * Lead Data-Informed Design: Advance team capabilities in leveraging analytics, research insights, and experimental methods to validate design decisions and identify opportunities

    * Elevate Design Quality: Set and maintain exceptional standards across UX, visual, motion, and conversation design, ensuring consistency and sophistication in all team deliverables

    * Navigate Complexity: Apply deep expertise to provide team with clear direction in ambiguous situations, anticipating challenges and creating structured approaches to undefined problems

    * Build Team Culture: Shape the future of design practice through mentorship, process innovation, and the evolution of team tools and methodologies

    Basic Qualifications

    * 15+ years in design, including experience managing organizations at scale.

    * Track record of delivering industry-leading products at scale

    * Excellence in organizational leadership, team development, and executive communication

    * Strong strategic thinking and ability to balance customer, technology, and business needs

    * Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, and Research teams

    Preferred Qualifications

    Expertise in device, voice, multimodal, and AI-driven experiences

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $216,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $322,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
