JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: X-Ray Technologist DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: PMG Imaging REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
Shift Days/Hours: Part-Time 2/3 days a week 8:00AM-4:30PM, must provide ESWL coverage as needed POSITION SUMMARY: The X-ray Technologist is responsible for preparing patients and performing routine radiological studies & procedures in accordance with physician’s orders. The X-ray Technologist produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with appropriate comparison studies and other exam results or patient information to the physician/radiologist for timely interpretation. Position requires knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of procedures, and protocols. Additionally, the X-ray Technologist demonstrates a commitment of quality service to patients and their families. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Preparing patients for radiological procedures. Instructing patients of proper breathing instructions. Explaining procedures to patients including possible risks. Reviewing patient’s medical history. Preparing equipment for use, including performing equipment quality checks, troubleshooting for problems, and calling for service as necessary. Obtaining quality radiological images through employment of proper anatomical positioning of patient, setting of proper technical factors. Observing and follow safety procedures to include radiation protection and universal precautions. Correlating radiological studies with previous imaging when available. Verifying the radiological order, patient’s demographics and insurance information to ensure the study can be performed. Reporting important information to the physician and radiologist in order to ensure patient safety. Demonstrating competency and accuracy in the use of the EMR and PACS systems, including all appropriate documentation, transmission of images, and burning of patient CDs as requested. Maintaining cleanliness of the equipment and work area. Monitoring all radiographic supplies and submitting purchase requests as necessary Maintaining familiarity of the emergency medications and their location. Obtaining and maintaining knowledge of current and new protocols. Maintains technical competence through continued education. Operating lithotripsy equipment in the safe and efficient completion of the Lithotripsy procedure as directed by the physician. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Certificate or diploma from an approved school of Radiologic Technology, and current advanced level certification in X-ray / Radiation technology QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: BLS Certification Ability to work independently and use professional and ethical judgment Strong critical thinking skills Ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively Premier Medical Group is an Equal Opportunity Employ
