Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the MECHANICAL SHOP within the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Responsibilities You will provide design services in support of tools and equipment development with the responsibility for preparation of engineering plans and specifications for new tool design and development. You will increase productive capability for the selection of Corporate Special Tooling. You will be responsible for the design, development and preparation of complete plans using an automated computer aided design program including material and operating instructions. You will review and evaluates new tool requests and/or problems of existing tools and independently conducts surveys, field investigations and technical engineering research. You will assist the toolmaker or other trade personnel assigned to the manufacture of the tool and provides technical guidance during the manufacturing process. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: using engineering technology, manuals and handbooks for the preparation of design calculations involving all phases of manufacturing of machine tools, nuclear systems, equipment, and materials while coordinating project assignments or tool designs to comply with nuclear plant requirements. Employees that do not exercise their return rights within five years are no longer eligible for return rights and will be treated as a local hire. Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met.
