The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine is seeking a full-time, American Board of Radiology board eligible/certified radiation oncologist candidate with specialized expertise in brachytherapy and the management of gynecologic malignancies. Candidates with demonstrated clinical experience and academic interest in gynecologic cancers and advanced brachytherapy techniques (including intracavitary, interstitial, and hybrid approaches) are strongly encouraged to apply. In addition to gynecologic cancers, there will be opportunities to expand the brachytherapy program into other disease sites depending on the candidate’s interests and experience.
The department has a strong intradepartmental and interdepartmental team approach and patient centric culture . The physician will have a key role in the disease site multidisciplinary team s , as directed by the Chair and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations. As a member of the care team, the candidate will be responsible for the coordinat ion of care with other services and relevant sites in the UHealth network . The faculty member is expected to be familiar with and comply with department procedures and policies, and have an active role in Quality Improvement activities for the department. The faculty member is expected to be familiar with the University faculty manual.
The candidate will participate in department academic and educational activities, such as morning teaching conferences, morbidity and mortality conference, weekly new patient conference, and departmental and cancer center retreats. Responsibilities also include active participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Faculty are expected to give at least one department grand rounds yearly and to lecture the residents twice during the year.
Phys ician scientist’s may benefit from start - up support and have protected time for research activities. The candidate will be expected to report progress of his/her research projects on a regular basis. Start-up funds are subject to performance and department/medical school finances.
As mentioned above, t he candidate must be board eligible/ certified and must have a license to practice medicine in the state of Florida (Florida Medical License or University Medical Faculty Certificate).
