    Job Summary

    Responsible for operating and monitoring steam sterilization equipment (autoclaves) to thoroughly clean, decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize medical instruments and supplies, ensuring their safe and hygienic use in a healthcare setting, while strictly adhering to established infection control protocols and quality standards during varying shifts.

    Primary Job Functions

    + Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system's operation

    + Recording in logs various aspects of the system's operation

    + Keeping the machinery and equipment of the system in good operating order

    + Maintaining the system or systems.

    + Performs scheduled maintenance on a wide variety of equipment.

    + Performs routine investigation rounds wearing proper PPE and RPE, such as a PAPR.

    + Required to work weekends and holidays.

    + Other duties may be assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions.

    + Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.

The minimum pay rate for this position is $38.48 + shift differential.
