    Job Description

    The Assistant Director of Residence Life Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective operation and safety of residential facilities, housing environments, and security services. Working closely with the Associate Director of Housing Operations and Administrative Services, the assistant director manages daily residential facility operations, collaborates with Facilities Management in Campus Operations, oversees security functions, and supports emergency preparedness and response efforts. Additionally, the Assistant Director oversees scheduling for on-call rotations for professional staff and ensures proper coordination of facility room inspections. The Assistant Director may be required to live on campus to support facility needs and after hour support. Serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA).

     

    This is an in-office position located in Stephenville, Texas. Work hours include Monday to Friday; from 8am to 5pm. This position requires a flexible work schedule, which at times will require frequent evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Additional hours may be required during peak periods.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Residential Facilities and Partnerships (Facility Management, Texan Card, Risk Management):

    + Assists the Associate Director of Housing Operations and Administrative Services in developing and implementing long and short-term plans for renovations and refurbishment of existing and new buildings.

    + Ensures the rooms and public spaces in the residence halls and apartments are clean, well maintained, and move-in ready for students, conference groups, and guests; walks the residential buildings weekly to visually inspect and evaluate the facilities

    + Collaborates with third-party vendors and Facilities Management in Campus Operations for maintenance of residential facilities, including building repairs, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and custodial services.

    + Coordinates current and future inventory of furniture to make recommendations for new or replacement furniture purchases relocation.

    + Assists in the coordination of preventative maintenance schedules and monitors the timely completion of maintenance requests and projects.

    + Responds effectively to student/family concerns and complaints regarding residence hall features and repairs.

    2. Safety & Security:

    + Assists in the development, implementation, and enforcement of safety and security protocols for residential halls.

    + The Assistant Director oversees e all departmental assets.

    + Serves as the departmental University Safety Officer representing the department in the Universities Emergency Management Council.

    + Coordinates Residence Life efforts in safety and security awareness.

    + Oversees security staffing and work closely with security personnel to ensure safe and efficient monitoring of campus areas.

    + Ensures security technologies such as surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems are operational and regularly tested.

    + Reviews housing policies for the University as well as develops and maintains a security program and coordinates emergency procedures, i.e., power outage, fire drills, medical emergencies, bomb threats, etc. to educate residents about emergency procedures and University policy

    3. Emergency Preparedness & On-Call Rotation:

    + Serves as a member of the Assistant Director on-call rotation, providing leadership and support for any emergencies or urgent facility-related incidents that arise outside of normal business hours.

    + Coordinates and schedules the on-call schedule for professional staff, ensuring proper coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    + Leads or assists in emergency drills, including fire evacuations and lockdown procedures, to ensure staff and students are prepared for various emergency scenarios.

    4. Move In, Facility Room Walks & Residential Life Support:

    + Oversees and guide Residential Life staff, including RHDs and Residential Leaders, in conducting facility room walks to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of residential spaces.

    + Ensures that room walks are completed on a regular basis, and that any identified maintenance, safety, or security issues are logged and addressed in a timely manner.

    + Works with Facilities Management in Campus Operations to resolve any facility-related issues that affect residential living environments.

    + Provides support and training for Residential Leaders, students, and Residence Life staff on how to identify safety hazards and report maintenance concerns effectively.

    + Leads various sub-committee that support an exceptional student experience for all students moving into campus housing.

    5. Budget and Resource Management:

    + Assists in the development and management of the annual budget for facilities, safety, and security operations.

    + Monitors expenditures related to facilities and security services, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines.

    + Assess building interior conditions and make recommendations for approved annual budget expenditures for furnishings, flooring, and painting.

    + Identifies opportunities for cost savings or resource optimization, particularly in collaboration with third-party service providers.

    6. Staff Supervision and Development:

    + Supervises a team of Residence Hall Directors and Residential Leaders, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

    + Conducts performance evaluations and regular one on one’s to deliver constructive feedback, and ensure that staff are trained in safety, security, and maintenance protocols.

    + Fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and customer service, ensuring a positive work environment for staff.

    7. Compliance, Reporting, and Conduct:

    + he Assistant Director works with the Director of University Housing and Residence Life Experience to support the departments collaboration with the Dean of Student’s Office.

    + Ensures compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

    + Maintains accurate records of safety inspections, maintenance activities, and security reports.

    + Prepares regular housing reports for the Director of Housing, Director of Facilities (campus operations), summarizing facility conditions, security incidents, and maintenance updates.

    + Performs other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements

    Education and Experience

    + Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Six years of related experience in residence life

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    + Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

    + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

    + Collaborative communication skills.

     

    Salary

     

    Commensurate with experience

     

    Salary Range

     

    The target base annual salary range is $49,000 to $68,330.50 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
