Responsibilities
Supervise the daily operations of the clinical documentation department.
+ Train, coach, and evaluate assigned staff on performance expectations. Determine daily staffing assignments and staffing levels.
+ Identify and utilize data to support strategic development and improvement activities, value-based purchasing reimbursements, quality/outcomes and compliance requirements.
+ Oversee the review of physician documentation to support a patient's level of care and appropriate designation of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs). Develop action plans for improvement.
+ Ensure staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Required Credential(s):
+ One or more of the following:
+ Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
+ Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentialed from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
+ Clinical Documentation Prof. credentialed from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
+ Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
+ Reg Health Info Admnstr credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
+ Reg Health Info Tech credentialed from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
Additional Preferences
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) or Coding Auditor with strong knowledge in ambulatory clinical documentation integrity (CDI) and value-based care to join our team. This role is ideal for a nurse/coder who understands both clinical care and healthcare data strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Review and enhance clinical documentation for HCC/RAF accuracy and risk adjustment alignment
+ Support HEDIS, quality metrics, and payer-driven performance programs
+ Supervise CDI and value-based care team and complex speciality coders to improve CDI (billing, coding and documentation), HCC risk adjustment, and clinical outcomes
+ Interpret and apply value-based care models and payer incentives
+ Contribute to performance improvement initiatives tied to reimbursement and compliance
Qualifications:
+ Active RN license and/or coding certification
+ Experience with coding, auditing and documentation improvement, HCC risk adjustment, HEDIS, or value-based care programs
+ Understanding of payer incentive models and quality reporting
+ Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred:
Prior work in clinic setting, managed care, ACO, or payer-provider collaboration
