    As a Software Development Engineer on the Amazon Q Business team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable, high-performance systems and frameworks that enable efficient data collection, storage, evaluation, and metric integration.

     

    Key job responsibilities

     

    Architect scalable and high-performance server systems to handle large volumes of evaluation requests efficiently.

     

    Build software frameworks and tools to automate the process of running evaluations.

     

    Develop reliable frameworks for collecting large-scale language and web data.

     

    Implement data storage and retrieval mechanisms to manage large datasets.

     

    Work closely with the science team to integrate the latest evaluation metrics into the evaluation pipeline.

    Basic Qualifications

    - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

     

    - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

     

    - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

     

    - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

     

    - Experience with Storage: S3, DynamoDB, Amazon RDS, Amazon OpenSearch

     

    - Analytics: EMR, Athena, Glue, Kinesis,

     

    - ML/AI: SageMaker, Comprehend

     

    - Security: IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, Large-scale data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink)

    Preferred Qualifications

    - 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

     

    - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

     

    - Experience with privacy-preserving techniques and data security

     

    - Experience with multimodal data processing

     

    - Knowledge of ML/AI systems and evaluation metrics

     

    - Background in building data catalogs or metadata management systems

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
