Position Summary and Purpose: Plan, direct, staff and control the Manufacturing Engineering Department. Coordinate its activities to support operations to insure adherence to shared goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL:
+ Develop and manage Manufacturing Engineering objectives, policies and procedures for effective operation of the department.
+ Develop and maintain proper staffing that meets defined performance standards to support operations and customer demand.
+ Promote effective employee relations by providing leadership, coaching, and development training to CNC programming staff.
+ Develop forward looking plans for capital spending. Prepare justification proposals, document specifications, develop performance requirements and oversee project planning and execution.
+ Interface with Product Engineering to manage the introduction of new products and maintain form, fit and functionality of existing products.
+ Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain part integrity and cost efficiency.
+ Manage the development of new tooling methods, building innovative tools and revamping existing tooling to reduce production costs.
+ Establishes and maintains an environment conducive to continuous improvement in manufacturing. Lead continuous improvement activities within the engineering group and provide support for manufacturing teams' continuous improvement activities.
+ Maintain compliance to the company safety policies and procedures
+ Responsible for directing the work of other team members
Education and Experience:
REQUIRED:
+ Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field required
+ MBA in a technical or business field preferred
+ Minimum of 7 years heavy industrial fabrication experience in a Manufacturing field
+ Minimum of 5 year experience in Engineering leadership role
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Characteristics, etc.
REQUIRED:
+ Experience in facilitating Continuous Improvement activities
+ Experience with MS Office suite, MasterCam, AutoCad and ERP functionality
+ Industry relevant production/process experience
+ Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and engineering management
+ Highly motivated, very detailed and service oriented with a proven track record
+ Knowledge of project management principles and practices
+ Strong communicator with positive attitude
+ Good critical thinking and problem solving skills
+ CNC Machining and Programming experience
+ Strong Blueprint reading
+ Strong understanding of quality and inspection systems including GD&T and its application
+ Strong machining background and knowledge in a high variety low quantity production environment

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: Employee may be exposed to non-air conditioned temperatures in the manufacturing area. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be loud at times.
