EchoStar** has an exciting opportunity for a **Director of Manufacturing Operations Engineering** in our **Hughes Network Systems division** . This role will oversee the engineering operations (Materials, Test, Manufacturing Engineering) within the organization, ensuring the efficient and effective execution of projects and processes. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of engineering principles and practices. This position will be located in our Manufacturing facility in **Germantown, MD.
Responsibilities:
+ Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the Operations Engineering teams, including Materials Engineering, Test Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.
+ Lead the execution and continuous improvement of engineering processes to support scalable production and optimized product quality.
+ Develop and implement long-term strategies that improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce costs, enhance product performance, and ensure manufacturability.
+ Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Management to drive seamless product lifecycle transitions from design through production.
+ Drive productivity initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices.
+ Oversee capital equipment planning, implementation of new production technologies, and process automation initiatives.
+ Ensure adherence to regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO, IPC, RoHS) and internal corporate policies.
+ Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions when needed.
+ Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering operations team through strong leadership, coaching, and performance management.
+ Develop and manage departmental budgets, resources, and timelines to align with organizational priorities.
Basic Requirements:
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering
+ 15 years of experience in engineering or operations roles, with at least 10 years in leadership/management positions
+ 10 years of experience in engineering function within high-tech or electronics manufacturing enviroment
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's degree in Engineering
+ Strong communication skills
+ Experience in the manufacturing of electronics assemblies
+ Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
+ Experience in managing Materials, Test, and Manufacturing Engineering Teams
The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check .
Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
