Under general supervision, oversees workflow of day-to-day duties of the school health office; performs services as assigned by the school registered nurse and in accordance with written policy. Responsibilities will vary according to the school health program.

Responsibilities

+ Serves as the primary point of contact for students needing health assistance and maintains good working relationships with students, parents, staff members and administration.

+ Provides care to students by taking vital readings, preforming CPR/First Aid, diabetic testing, and reporting illnesses and injuries to school nurse as warranted.

+ Assists school nurse with administering medication to students as delegated and in accordance with written policy

+ Prepares and/or performs health screenings as assigned.

+ Ensures health office is well-maintained and functional

+ Maintain Student immunization and health records, along with class lists.

Qualifications

+ High School Diploma or equivalent

+ Prior experience working with children preferred

+ Must complete Iowa Department of Education requirements on Medication Administration

+ Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

+ Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office.

+ Ability to read, write, and speak English
