    **Work Type:** Restricted Part Time (Total FTE less than 0.5)

    **Shift:** Shift 1

    **Work Schedule:** 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 4:00:00 PM)

    Pay Rate:** **$42.32 per hour

The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.

    Summary:

    The Ambulatory Registered Nurse 3 is a proficient nurse possessing an in- depth knowledge of patient management; can accommodate unplanned events and can respond with efficiency, flexibility and confidence. The Ambulatory Registered Nurse 3 immediately sees the whole situation while being able to discriminate that which is most relevant; has developed advanced communication and collaboration skills along with system savvy. The Ambulatory Registered Nurse 3 assumes a leadership role in the clinical practice area, using clinical experience to serve as a role model and coach. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

    Required Job Qualifications:

    • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure.

    • Consistent performance at Ambulatory RN 2 or equivalent RN 3 experience.

    • Earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate or higher.

    • National Certification.

    • Current CPR certification.

    • Analytical ability.

    • Communication skills are required in order to lead, teach, and motivate others.

    • Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations.

    • The ability to check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data, and closely examine specimens, images or

     

    reports.

     

    - A specialty certification may be required for certain departments within 12 months of hire.

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to walk throughout the Medical Center and to be standing or walking most of the designated shift.

    • Lifting or carrying objects 35-40lbs. and lifting and positioning patients, some of whom may exceed 300 lbs.

    • Work conditions include performing procedures where carelessness could result in injury or illness and/or contact with potentially

     

    infectious materials and/or strong chemical agents

    Responsibilities:

    1. Establishes a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication, acknowledgement of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal patient experience and outcomes.

    2. Implements a plan of care that incorporates the unique characteristics of patients, families, groups and communities cultural, spiritual, intellectual, age educational and psychosocial).

    3. Serves as a role model and mentor by demonstrating advanced interpersonal communication and collaboration skills in the management of complex patient care situations.

    4. Resolves conflict effectively to improve team relationships in support of a healthy work environment.

    5. Anticipates and assumes accountability for effective care coordination across multiple service agencies and/or healthcare organizations.

    6. Utilizes evidence-based ambulatory care nursing interventions during clinical visits, telephone encounters, and electronic communications according to state regulations, regulatory agency standards and organizational policies and procedures.

    7. Actively promotes current evidence based strategies, standards of care and protocols within the healthcare team.

    8. Identifies and develops clinic based quality initiatives,research, care protocols and evidence based activities that improve patient care and outcomes.

    9. Demonstrates accountability for implementing, instructing and acting as a resource on policies related to safe and effective administration of medications, the use of medical devices in the delivery of patient care and in the performance of patient procedures.

    10. Develops educational strategies that promote patient, family and/or patient population learning and self-management.

    11. Evaluates the implementation and effectiveness of safety strategies and initiates appropriate action to minimize

    12. risk, during clinical visits, telephone encounters and electronic communications.

    13. Anticipates potential problems and identifies subtle changes in patient status and/or practice environment which lead to early and effective interventions to optimize patient outcomes.

    14. Synthesizes and applies available data and information to initiate action relevant to the respective patient populations.

    15. Provides coaching for reflection and review of complex patient or practice situations in order to develop practical solutions.

    16. Utilizes advanced assessment skills to holistically evaluate the physical and psychosocial needs of patients and families throughout the care continuum.

    17. Supports staff in management of patient and population situations to develop critical thinking skills.

    18. Implements optimal care coordination that enhances patient and population adherence to treatment plan while also assessing and resourcing for acute needs.

    19. Develops and implements strategies with the intraprofessional team to optimize transitions for patients, families and/or patient populations.

    20. Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice, including progress toward achievement of annual goals.

    21. Participates in inter- professional shared decision making to improve ambulatory care nursing practice, organizational performance, and outcomes.

    22. Develops and leads implementation of clinic goals, change initiatives and nursing shared governance activities.

    23. Collaborates and evaluates the practice of professional and unlicensed staff consistently to optimize patient outcomes.

    24. Identifies and develops educational opportunities for staff and/or students in the clinic.

    25. Serves as a role model whose beliefs, attitudes and actions support clinic and institution leadership and goals.

    26. Manages resources effectively and contributes to realizing the fiscal goals of the practice.

    27. Considers fiscal and budgetary implications in decision making regarding practice and system modifications.

    28. Leads initiatives to improve nursing practice, organizational performance, and patient outcomes.
