Description
Closely coordinates on student issues with the Dean of the Law School and the rest of the Law School leadership team . Represents law student perspectives and needs while serving as member of the senior student affairs team. Assists with the management of law student issues along with the Dean of Students for Law and Graduate Students or other members of the Student Affairs division.
+ Takes a lead role in planning, as well as managing logistics and budgets, for new law student orientation programs at the law school . Coordinates with the Office of Orientation, New Student & Families to maximize University resources for welcoming law students .
+ Assists the VP of Student Affairs and Dean of Students for Law and Graduate Students in coordinating the annual updates to student policies and handbook . Ensures that policies relating specifically to law students are updated on the web site, as necessary .
+ Assists the Assistant VP of Student Affairs with engagement and DEI initiatives for law students , including Progress to Success .
+ Serves as the main point of contact and advisor to the law student organizations , including training new student leaders and groups on policies and procedures related to student activities . Works in close coordination with the Associate Dean of Student Leadership and Involvement and the SLI unit to maximize University resources for law student activities and events .
+ Assists with exam time coverage . Respond s to and approve s student requests for emergency exam reschedules . Communicate s approved exam reschedules to the Office of Academic Services.
+ Coordinate s with the Dean of Students /Student Affairs staff, Academic Deans and Academic Services Staff to address student questions and concerns about exams. Serve s as back-up proctor for law exams.
+ Responds to letter of good standing transfer requests . Keeps track of requests for year-to-year comparison and watches trends . Contacts students to determine if the school can take action to retain them as students .
+ Responsible for reviewing requests and certifying law students for student practice (such as MA Rule 3:03) . Assists students with questions and concerns about the student practice rules in various jurisdictions.
+ Under the supervision of the Vice President for Student Affairs, takes the lead in coordinating the compliance responsibilities of the student affairs division and updating related policies including: Biennial Review, Hazing, Clery, and others.
+ Assists i n the planning and preparation for graduation, including preparation of materials and scripts for the graduation ceremony and associated celebrations. Respond s to student questions regarding graduation . Member of university graduation team that prepares for, and executes, the university’s three graduation ceremonies .
+ Reviews daily and responds in a timely manner to email communications in the Law Dean of Students account.
+ Acts as administrative advisor to student groups and competitions, as needed.
+ Serves on L aw S chool and U niversity committees as needed.
+ Other duties, as needs arise.
