Job Title: Lead Chemist
Job Description
The Lead Chemist plays a vital role in leading the laboratory testing group to deliver exceptional testing services by ensuring continuous sample flow while upholding the department's QA/QC standards.
Responsibilities
+ Interview and train employees, plan, assign, and direct work.
+ Appraise employee performance and assist in career development.
+ Address complaints and report them to the Laboratory Manager while resolving issues.
+ Ensure testing and method development are conducted effectively, managing procedural efficiency.
+ Plan and supervise daily laboratory operations, ensuring timely sample flow and result accuracy.
+ Lead research, development, and implementation of new technologies.
+ Coordinate workload assignments with other department supervisors.
+ Provide performance management and support technical growth of department staff.
+ Collaborate with the Laboratory Manager to manage department resources.
+ Support the Quality Management System and regulatory compliance.
+ Respond to QA findings and implement corrective actions for departmental activities.
+ Contribute to continuous improvement and marketing of laboratory operations.
+ Enforce safety regulations and ensure safe working practices.
+ Train and mentor Chemists, providing support through data review.
+ Perform and assist in the duties of Chemists as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in inorganic chemistry, gas chromatography, and food science.
+ Proficiency in metal screening, GC-FID, HPLC, ICP-MS, and Orbitrap detectors.
+ Strong skills in primary and secondary data review, sample preparation, and liquid chromatography.
+ Experience in MS, MSMS, wet chemistry, bench chemistry, sample prep, and GCMS.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science from a four-year college or university.
+ Experience in inorganics or food science.
+ 5+ years of managerial or supervisory experience.
+ Experience in training extraction, analytical, and instrument methodology.
+ Ability to work independently with a thorough understanding of department-specific instruments.
+ Skill in maintenance, troubleshooting, and analytical method development.
Work Environment
The work environment is a fast-paced analytical laboratory with a flexible day shift schedule between 7:30 am and 6 pm, totaling 40 hours per week.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
