    We are seeking a seasoned Backend Platform Engineer to drive the design and evolution of internal platform services and cloud infrastructure that enhance developer velocity and operational excellence at scale. This role is perfect for an engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges, abstracting complexity, and enabling product teams to move swiftly and confidently.

    Responsibilities

    + Build reliable, scalable, and secure backend platform services using Java (preferred) or Python, focusing on internal developer workflows such as CI/CD, provisioning, and bootstrapping.

    + Create core Platform Components for our Internal Developer Platform (IDP), promoting self-service capabilities and reducing toil across engineering teams.

    + Design and build Cloud Infrastructure using Terraform and modern AWS services such as EKS, IAM, Lambda, EC2, and S3, adhering to infrastructure-as-code and GitOps best practices.

    + Embed reliability and observability by integrating monitoring, tracing, and alerting tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, and ELK into platform foundations.

    + Contribute to writing technical designs and reviewing pull requests.

    + Drive operational excellence through proactive incident response, on-call participation, and postmortem leadership to enhance platform resilience.

    + Collaborate cross-functionally with product, security, and operation teams to prioritize platform capabilities that accelerate innovation and reduce cognitive load for developers.

    + Evaluate, upgrade, and implement new tools, frameworks, and language versions, especially Java.

    + Assist in creating programs for training and onboarding new customers.

    + Lead Agile/Kanban workflows and team process work.

    + Troubleshoot customer issues as needed, tracking all details in JIRA and PagerDuty on-call system.

    Essential Skills

    + 10+ years of software engineering experience.

    + 6+ years in backend development with Java (preferred) or Python.

    + 6+ years working with AWS and building cloud-native infrastructure.

    + 3+ years deploying and operating Kubernetes workloads in EKS or similar environments.

    + DevOps & Automation: Building CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Java, or Jenkins.

    + Security: Implementing role-based access, IAM policies, AD integration, and using security tools for vulnerability scanning and remediation.

    + Monitoring & Observability using CloudWatch, Datadog, and Elastic Search.

    + Expertise in distributed systems, networking, and systems reliability principles.

    + Track record of technical ownership in complex engineering environments.

    + Comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapidly evolving requirements with a strong bias for action.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Familiarity with Java, especially for building or understanding APIs.

    + A strong willingness to learn.

    Work Environment

    Work flexibility includes 1-2 days in the office per week. The environment involves working with cloud or platform technologies, primarily AWS and Python skills.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
