    Specific Responsibilities:

    This is a Senior Human Services Program MGR-SES position is responsible for coordination, and supervision of Surveillance activities, information systems, Ql and training activities of the Palm Beach County Health Department - TB Program. This position works in close coordination and provides technical assistance to the TB Control Program Records Technician. These activities reflect knowledge and application of sound epidemiological surveillance, containment and assessment principles as related to tuberculosis. This position will assist the TB Control Program Manager in the formulation of policies and procedures. This position is designated as an Information Custodian for the TB surveillance data. Work is performed under the supervision of the Public Health Services Manager F-SES. This position requires independent judgment, initiative, applying general knowledge of business practices and skill in applying instructions to accomplish various job functions.This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees’ work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

     

    This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain confidential information in accordance with the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Palm Beach County Health Department (CHD) Information Security Policy, Protocols and Procedures. Confidential Data Set: Health Management System (HMS) -TB. Access to HMS TB module for management and reporting purposes. This position may view, update, and/or release information in the performance of public health investigations as required by statute, Administrative Rule, or Departmental Policy.

     

    Provides oversight for data integrity regarding information being entered into the TB module. Updates the TB database on an ongoing basis. Reviews reported TB cases and suspects for reporting delays, completion of information and other issues. Coordinate with Nurse Case Manager to obtain missing data on Report of Verify Case of Tuberculosis (RVCT). Generates reports to the TB Control Program Manager. Promptly initiate RVCT as soon as the information is readily available. Informs and assists the TB Control Program Manager to complete and submit the RVCT’s to Tallahassee and CDC. Keeps and update local records of RVCTs.

     

    Compile and analyze TB Surveillance data and generate demographic and clinical reports. Uses Facebook computer system to find locating information for stalled patient investigations, assist and train new employees. Helps TB Control Program Manager ensure all required statistical and narrative reports are completed and submitted to the State Health Office and the PBC headquarters in a timely manner. Identify high morbidity areas in Palm Beach County utilizing the current data. Identify and evaluates the transmission of TB among cases utilizing DNA genotyping information.

     

    Assisting in receiving and processing of Classes Electronic Disease Notification B1, and Electronic Disease Notification B2 as needed. Responsible for Inter-jurisdictional, correctional, and flight referrals. Oversees and transfer of the information to appropriate section such as Contact investigation, Nursing, and Clinic to complete required follow up activities. Responsible for tracking and assuring all forms or updates sent to CHD are complete and returned to the Bureau of TB and Refugee Health in a timely manner. Assists the TB Control Program Manager in developing a comprehensive training plan for all TB staff, medical students, CDC apprentice and Public Health Residents.

     

    Coordinate with TB Medical Staff, and various experts in Tuberculosis to assure timely appropriate training is completed. Coordinate with HMS technical assistance to provide HMS training and updates to all TB Staff. Provides quality improvement related training. Evaluates and implement training for all Staff of the Palm Beach County TB Program. Assists the TB Control Program Manager in conducting educational presentations to interested parties in the community. Serves and provide TB Infection Control Technical Assistance. Coordinate with all the Health Centers and programs to ensure all the components of TB Infection Control Plan are implemented at each site according to FDOH guidelines and present these findings to CHD TB Program management team. Attends staff meetings and in-services.

    + Valid Driver’s License.

    + Require to safely wear a tight-fitting N-95 respirator, fit tests other employees (or other reasonable accommodation) and participate in the medical surveillance program for TB.
