    Job Summary

    The Office of Admissions is excited to add an Assistant Director for International Admissions Operations to the team. This position oversees full-time evaluators in two areas—International Undergraduate Admissions and Utah Global (an English language pathways program developed in partnership with Shorelight). Our evaluators are thoughtful and dedicated, espousing a strong sense of responsibility to the students and institution we serve. We seek a leader with experience in international admissions or an adjacent field who enjoys supporting their colleagues, learning about complex systems, and contributing new ideas. The Assistant Director for International Admissions Operations reports to the Senior Associate Director for Admissions Operations and works closely with a wide swath of university partners to meet shared goals. Ideal candidates are patient, strategic, empathetic, adaptable, and detail oriented. Cultural humility and curiosity are a must!

    Responsibilities

    1. Support and supervise the work of the International Undergraduate Admissions and Utah Global areas.

    2. Identify changes or necessary adjustments in admissions-related policies (e.g., updating test score minimums for proof of English-language proficiency).

    3. Review requests for exceptions to policies and unique situations where professional judgement must be used.

    4. Assist in setting department short and long-term goals.

    5. Establish internal objectives and implement procedures to meet goals. Evaluate effectiveness of procedures and provide periodic progress reports.

    6. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise full-time evaluators as well as student clerks. Assess related training needs and coordinate training programs to meet those needs.

    7. Work closely with the other members of the Operations Management team to support an office culture of accountability and empathy.

    8. Assist with the holistic review of international applicants.

    9. Collaborate with University partners, departments and offices to improve the experiences of international students throughout the application and enrollment processes.

    10. Remain informed on the needs and considerations international students bring to their pursuit of education in the U.S.

    11. Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required.

     

    Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.
