    SUMMARY:

    Under supervision of the Asset Recovery Manager, performs collection activities for delinquent loan accounts to resolve delinquent status, minimize loss and enhance loss recovery.

     

    **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    + In accordance with Credit Union policy and collection procedures, initiates collection activity by contacting members via telephone, written correspondence, e-mail and fax on past due accounts; ensures follow-up calls are made at appropriate intervals throughout the month.

    + Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in all member interactions.

    + Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy for the purpose of collection workouts, extensions, collection agency forwarding and charge off recoveries.

    + Performs other collection tasks including skip tracing, collecting on returned checks and resolving account disputes.

    + Ensures timely resolution of member inquiries.

    + Provides status reports when requested on the following: negative share accounts, potential credit card charge-offs and loan extensions.

    + Maintains knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act and other applicable Federal and State regulations; performs all work in compliance with these regulations.

    + Maintains a flexible schedule to meet business needs which includes some evening and week-end work.

    + Maintains a positive and caring atmosphere for members and employees consistent with the Credit Union's mission and philosophy.

    + Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of computer equipment and software required including Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.

     

    The pay range for this position is $20.18 -$25.22 /hr. and is based on experience.

     

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    High school diploma; one-year related experience and/or training, preferably within a financial services environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Auto collections experience preferred.
