Payroll and Position Control Specialist
This position is responsible for overseeing all electronic transactions in the district’s enterprise system (Tyler Technologies), including employee actions, position actions, and the maintenance of the organizational structure. This role also acts as a key representative of the Payroll Office, providing exceptional service to administrators, staff, and the school community.
Some of what you will do:
• Ensure accurate entry of staff placement, assignments, and organizational requirements.
• Validate and maintain accuracy of absence and professional development accounting codes in the absence and substitute system.
• Review and approve electronic Personnel Action Requests (ePAR) related to position and staff placement.
• Verify that professional leave and extracurricular absences are properly coded.
• Serve as a liaison among administrative service teams to ensure coordinated and effective use of systems.
• Serve as the first point of contact for the payroll office, fielding inquiries from staff and the public and directing them to appropriate resources.
• Identify and recommend areas of improvement with absence and substitute and payroll systems.
• Support cross-departmental initiatives and align position control strategies with district goals.
Required application materials include:
• High school diploma or equivalent; and
• Three years of professional experience in accounting, office management, business, human resources or related field; or
• Equivalent combination of education/experience as determined by the District
Preferred:
• Associate degree in business, accounting, public administration, office management, human resources or related field.
• One year of professional accounting experience with position control, ideally in a school district.
• Experience with an absence and management system such as Frontline Educator or Tyler Technologies.
Starting salary is $20.70-$23.35 per hour depending on experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package. This position is not eligible for remote work.
