    Job Description:

    A Brief OverviewProvides accurate and timely information to visitors and callers. Responsibilities include pre-certifying with insurance companies, filing, scheduling, maintaining records in the Electronic Medical Record system, processing patient specimens, and direct patient care. This role assists providers with office procedures. Administrative tasks include scheduling appointments, billing, coding, and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties include taking and recording vital signs, documenting medical histories, preparing patients for exams, drawing blood, and administering medications under physician or advanced practice provider direction. Adaptability to varied tasks is essential.CMA:

     

    What you will do

     

    + Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.

    + Change dressings on wounds.

    + Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.

    + Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.

    + Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission.

    + Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians' instructions to patients.

    + Help physicians or physician assistant examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.

    + Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.

    + Inventory and order medical, lab, or office supplies and equipment.

    + Collect co-pays, coinsurance, and past due balances and record transactions.

    + Operate equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.

    + Perform general office duties such as answering telephones or completing insurance forms.

    + Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.

    + Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician or physician assistant.

    + Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.

    + Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records.

    + Schedule appointments for patients.

    + Set up medical laboratory equipment.

    + Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.

    Qualifications

    + H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

    + Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants Required

    + 1-3 years experience in a medical office Preferred

    + Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

    + Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

    + Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

    + The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

    + The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

    LPN:

    What you will do

     

    + Regular and reliable attendance.

    + Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.

    + Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.

    + Assess the needs of individuals, families or communities, including assessment of individuals' home or work environments to identify potential health or safety problems.

    + Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.

    + Direct and coordinate infection control programs, advising and consulting with specified personnel about necessary precautions.

    Qualifications

    + One Year Certificate from College or Tech School Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required

    + 1-3 years Health care experience Preferred

    + Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

    + Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

    What you will do

     

    + Monitor and evaluate all aspects of patient care to ensure optimal health outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration.

    + Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.

    + Instruct and educate patients and caregivers on a variety of topics including but not limited to disease management, medication use, and lifestyle modifications.

    + Collaborate with care team members to efficiently manage tasks such as referrals, prior authorization, phone calls, results notification, and medication refills.

    + Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.

    + Monitor, assess, and report symptoms and changes in patient conditions.

    + Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

    + Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patient's responses, conditions, and socioeconomic factors.

    + Prepare and administer medications appropriately as ordered by the provider utilizing the 5 rights of medication administration

    + Collect and perform specified laboratory testing

    + Adherence to infection control programs, advising and consulting with necessary personnel regarding precautions and PPE.

    + Provide guidance and supervision to less skilled nursing or other health care personnel.

    + Clean patient rooms, equipment and supplies between each use. Ensure that adequate supply inventory is maintained for quality care.

    Qualifications

    + Associate’s Degree (AA) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

    + 1-3 years Health care experience Preferred
