Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION. This position is for a Materials Handler, Position Description Number D2139000, and is part of the MT Army National Guard, GTC. Selecting Official: LTC Fredrick Terry Responsibilities Performs the full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. Develops, or assists in the development of plans for storage and arrangement of stock to determine warehouse configuration, setup, movement, rearrangement and traffic flow. In larger warehouse facilities, the incumbent typically develops storage and space utilization plans in accordance with regulations for a specific commodity or equipment group. In hazardous materials storage areas, incumbent insures the safe receipt, storage, and movement of hazardous and toxic materials and substances such as ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements. In smaller warehouses, the incumbent may serve as the senior nonsupervisory worker of the facility, laying out storage space, establishing item locations, determining organization and arrangement of stock, and identifying high and low usage items. May serve as the senior member of a warehouse project team of material handlers involved in a special project such as relocating a major commodity or equipment group, or setting up a new commodity group area. May coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials with docking area and scheduling personnel to facilitate movement in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements, and space allocations. May operate large warehouse perimeter vehicles such as cargo tractors, stake trucks, and jumbo tugs. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted E1 - E9; Warrant WO1 - CW5; Officer O1 - O4 GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. ***(MUST address your experiences in detail on resume as they relate to these general and specialized experiences to be considered for this position)*** PLACEMENT STATUS/TENURE OF SELECTEE: TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT/CHANGE TO LOWER GRADE - For Title 32 permanent selectees only: This is an obligated position. If a permanent employee in the Title 32 Excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their permanent status AND have rights to return to their previous Title 32 position. TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT/CHANGE TO LOWER GRADE - For Title 32 Indefinite selectees only: This is an obligated position. If an indefinite employee (tenure 3) in the Title 32 Excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their indefinite status AND may return to their previous Title 32 indefinite position if it is still available. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT - For Current Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position. If an on-board employee in the Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will convert to a T32 indefinite appointment (tenure 3). This employee will have no reemployment rights to their previous T5 position. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT - State National Guard Members (includes T32 NTE employees and MTNG members not currently a federal employee): This is an obligated position. Selectee will be appointed as an indefinite employee (tenure 3).
