  • Sustainability as Competitive Advantage Lecturer

    New York University (Tulsa, OK)

    Apply Now

NYU Tulsa is seeking a local, part-time instructor to teach “Sustainability as Competitive Advantage” in Fall 2026 (August 31 – December 11, 2026). The course is sponsored by the NYU Stern School of Business and contributes to the Sustainable Business concentration , which prepares students to embed sustainability into core business strategy and create long-term value across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. The course is taught in English and includes 15 in-person instructional weeks. Students will include a mix of undergraduate business students and interdisciplinary majors. The course schedule will be determined in consultation with the final candidate.

The instructor will be responsible for preparing and delivering all classes, (based on the Sustainability As Competitive Advantage syllabus, cases, and decks which will be provided), grading student work, and holding at least one office hour per week. Candidates should have demonstrated experience teaching or working in sustainable business strategy, corporate responsibility, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics, or related areas. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity of intellectual life at NYU Tulsa.

    Course Details

This course explores how forward-thinking companies leverage sustainability not just as a compliance or ethical concern but as a strategic business advantage. Students will analyze how integrating environmental and social goals into a company’s operations, value chain, and brand identity can drive innovation, enhance stakeholder trust, and improve financial performance.

Topics may include circular economy, ESG reporting, stakeholder capitalism, sustainable supply chains, and climate risk. Through case studies, group projects, and applied analysis, students will learn to assess sustainability strategies and develop business solutions that balance profit with purpose.

This course supports the Sustainable Business concentration within Stern’s Business and Society Program, which offers over 20 electives focused on the role of business in social and environmental change.

    Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with a blend of academic preparation, industry experience, and teaching ability. A terminal degree (MBA, PhD, JD, MPA, MPS, or related) in sustainable business, environmental studies, public policy, business strategy, or a relevant field is preferred. Candidates with professional experience in sustainability, CSR, ESG consulting, or sustainable innovation are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applicants should demonstrate the ability to teach with an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Ideally, candidates will have two to three years of university-level teaching experience; experience working with undergraduate students is especially valued. In some cases, substantial industry experience may be considered in lieu of academic teaching experience.

Salary will be based on part-time faculty rates for the course and location. Other terms and conditions will be discussed with the successful applicant. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the United States at the time of appointment.

All candidates must submit the following:

    + A cover letter

    + A current CV
