The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is looking for a Quantum Research Scientist Intern. You will be joining a multi-disciplinary group of scientists, engineers, and technicians, all working at the forefront of quantum computing to innovate for the benefit of our customers.

You should have knowledge of experimental measurement techniques, and how to develop and automate them in software, towards improving the performance of quantum processors on the path towards delivering a fault-tolerant quantum computer.

Key job responsibilities

As a research science intern, you will model and analyze superconducting quantum devices, run numerical dynamical simulations, and interpret the results. You will work closely with both theorists and experimentalist, take part in interpreting experimental data and help guide experiments.

You should thrive in ambiguous environments that require finding solutions to problems that have not been solved before. You leverage your exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of quantum hardware, and practical experience. Your strong communication skills enable you to work effectively with both business and technical partners.

Basic Qualifications

• Enrolled in Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Technology, Science, or a related quantitative field.

• Experience in research of quantum system

• Fluency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, C, C++)

• Experience in problem solving and data analytics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrolled in a PhD degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, or a related quantitative field

• Experience in modeling and simulations of superconducting quantum devices

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $65.38/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $102.31/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
