    Description

The Propulsion Group is seeking a Test Engineer to support the development and continued improvement of propulsion flight hardware and its testing. As part of the Propulsion Development Test Team, you will support the design, optimization, and execution of electric propulsion testing for a variety of different propulsion systems and subsystems, including PCBA's, feed systems, thrusters, cathodes, tanks, and integrated propulsion systems.

You will work with hardware design owners and subject matter experts to develop and execute testing of hardware in order to inform design updates and failure investigations. This will include test procedure definition, software development, test execution, and data analysis. You will also develop new test capabilities as well as optimize existing systems for both production and development testing by designing new test systems and techniques.

You will also contribute to finding solutions to challenging problems by investigating root causes for hardware failures and assist in the disposition of production and flight non-conformances through investigation testing and data analysis. Additionally, you will utilize the growing amount of development and production data to inform methods of accelerating production acceptance testing without reducing hardware screening.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Perform development testing of a variety of electric propulsion systems and subsystems in order to inform design updates and root cause investigations

    • Design and implement updates to development test hardware and software to improve development test capabilities

    • Analyze data from both production and development tests to inform hardware performance trends, requirements, and methods of accelerating production acceptance testing without reducing hardware screening.

    • Perform root cause investigations to understand hardware and test failures and assist in the disposition of production and flight hardware non-conformances.

    • Work with other engineers to refine test requirements and the methodologies to test against those requirements

    A day in the life
