Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role will provide collaborative leadership, oversee the production, shipping, and maintenance operations to ensure maximum and safe production of high-quality products in accordance with Company goals and objectives, FDA, USDA, and OSHA regulations.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    **Education** :

     

    Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in industrial technology, business, management, or related field preferred. Or a combination of education and experience.

     

    **Experience** :

     

    Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a food processing or non-edible food processing environment required. Experience in the dairy industry, highly preferred. Minimum 2 years’ leadership experience required.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    + Coordinates production area workflow with the help of supervisor team.

    + Troubleshoots production process including:

    + Assists maintenance personnel with repairs on equipment /machinery breakdowns or notifies appropriate personnel to coordinate outside repair services.

    + Ensure the flow of production, redirecting production employees to areas of the process needing immediate attention.

    + Acts as the Safety Coordinator for the plant and maintains a superior safety program, including conducting regular scheduled safety training, safety committee meetings, and implement improvements to provide a safe working environment.

    + Participates in the communication, training, and development of new employees.

    + Generates and guides work orders to maintenance personnel for equipment/machinery repairs.

    + Documents and understands required data to maintain established production processes.

    + Assists in the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    + Responsible for leading by example, and holding team members accountable to company standards, policies, and procedures; and in keeping with the Company’s values.

    + Maintains a clean production area for safe working conditions.

    + Communicates and collaborates with the Company’s home office as necessary.

    + Assists the Plant Manager in the development of the plant budget, forecasting personnel needs, equipment/machinery repairs or purchases, and facility improvements/additions.

    + Assists in verifying requirements for OSHA and USDA standards. Responsible for maintaining standards and documenting required paperwork and reports.

    + Practices continuous improvement in the manufacturing process.

    + Ensures fundamental feed safety and quality practices are maintained to achieve feed safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvements of feed safety programs.

    + Operates forklifts and non-motorized pallet jacks as needed.

    + Other duties as deemed necessary to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely operations.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    + Specific knowledge of industrial production processes in an edible or non-edible food processing plant.

    + Must be flexible and willing to perform a variety of job duties, shift rotation, and travel assignments. This includes working night and day shifts as scheduled.

    + Specific knowledge of the dairy industry and dryer operation processes.

    + Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment/machinery and perform repairs.

    + Specific knowledge of industrial production processes in an edible or non-edible food processing plant.

    + Ability to hire, train, and evaluate team members ensuring a competent work force to meet production objectives in a cost-effective manner.

    + Ability to effectively maintain a high level of confidentiality related to all duties and responsibilities, such as production goals and personnel information.

    + Ability to effectively demonstrate a positive and collaborative approach, adapting communication style, to meet the needs of all team members in all levels of the organization.

    + Ability to effectively interact and lead plant personnel in a professional manner.

    + Lead by example, in team member morale, work ethic, and demonstrating a positive attitude among the team.

    + Demonstrated ability to monitor the production processes, anticipate production concerns, and make effective decisions while striving for continuity of the production process.

    + Knowledge and demonstrated ability to effectively analyze, forecast, and plan production objectives.

    + Ability to perform basic and complex mathematical calculations.

    + Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

    + Ability to work daily and extended hours and travel as necessary.

    + Ability to work in a team environment and implement continuous quality improvement.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards and safe work practices.

    + Ability to effectively communicate with corporate office management, team members, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other business-related contacts.

    + Ability to operate all necessary office equipment required to accomplish job duties, such as computer, telephone, fax machine, etc.

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.

    + Ability to adhere to USDA recordkeeping requirements.

    + Ability to assist with special or ongoing projects as instructed by the Plant Manager.

    + The Production Manager will cover for the absence of the Plant Manager. Members of the supervisory team will cover for the absence of the Production Manager or qualified personnel.

    BASIC MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

    This job requires the mental capabilities to analyze the production processes to develop manufacturing techniques/procedures to attain a quality finished product produced in a timely and efficient manner. Furthermore, the incumbent for this position must have the abilities to solve problems as they arise, strives to improve upon current processes, and excellent communication skills in conveying the production process to plant personnel.

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND EXPOSURES:

    General manufacturing working conditions exists. Exposures include, but are not limited to chemicals, caustics, temperatures ranging from freezing to extreme heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment and machinery. Additionally, the incumbent for this position may be required to stand for an extended period on slippery tile and/or concrete floors.
