**Pay Range:** $69.41 - $116.61 per hour
Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.
Summary:
The Administrative Director reports to Associate Vice President of System Laboratory Services with a dotted line to the Medical Director, Rush Medical Laboratories (RML). The Administrative Director is responsible for the development, monitoring and leadership of the financial, marketing, information systems and client services policies and procedures of the clinical laboratory. The Administrative Director works closely with the Laboratory Medical Directors, Laboratory Managers and supervisory staff to run the day to day operations of all RML laboratories under their direction. The Administrative Director reports to the the Associate Vice President of System Laboratory and works to implement the strategy for RML across multiple Laboratory locations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the financial aspects of the laboratory, which includes fiscal and flexible budget coordination and preparation; monitor and investigate monthly budget variances; prepare and report internal and peer comparison financial and performance indicators; maintain the charge description master; work closely with Finance to ensure proper billing, accounting, auditing, CPT coding, Medicare/Medicaid billing procedures and protocols are followed.
• Prepares the operating and capital equipment budgets for Laboratory and Pathology Services using input from the Laboratory Manager and reports on departmental activity, financial performance and quality improvement progress as required.
• Makes team members aware of the centers budget, expenses, and utilization of resources and continuously works with team to reduce expenses and improve quality.
• Performs feasibility studies and develops new programs.
• Approves purchased services and check requests and ensures adherence to budgeted levels.
• Minimizes expenses through efficient purchasing, tight inventory controls and effective utilization of human resources and technology.
• Facilitates the removal of obstacles and the development of new systems to optimize the utilization of resources.
• Evaluates staffing, space and/or other resource needs within service areas; makes recommendations to the administrative team and plans for the allocation of resources accordingly.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies that guide center/unit operations (CAP, JCAHO, IDPH, OSHA, etc.). Maintains other quality control programs/measures to ensure continuous improvement in operations.
• Completes an Occurrence Report for each observance of an incident outside of standard operating procedure and/or represents a deviation from the standard of care knowing that good faith reporting is non-punitive.
• Act as RML's representative for the Rush System for Health Laboratory Committee; attend these meetings and communicate progress/issues to the AVP and the Laboratory Medical Director; meet with vendors as necessary to negotiate system contracts.
• Act as the Department of Pathology and Rush Medical Laboratories' representative for the Rush Health Associates Contract Implementation Team; ensure smooth operation of the laboratory's testing, reporting and billing for these contracts; work with team members to establish package pricing for carve out services.
• Provide leadership to the Client Services area; meet with clients and potential clients as needed; work closely with the staff to ensure efficient and cost effective service to clients.
• Prepare marketing strategies and data as required in collaboration with the AVP for Laboratory Services.
• Provide leadership to the Laboratory Information System; ensure all financial and billing functions of the system are operating correctly; keep current with new information system technology and implement when appropriate.
• Be available to the laboratory staff to receive information and address any matters in a timely and appropriate manner; attend and participate in laboratory staff and management meetings on a regular basis.
• Work closely with the AVP, Medical Director, Laboratory Managers and supervisory staff in developing, updating and monitoring the achievement of long range goals and objectives for the Department of Pathology and Rush Medical Laboratories.
• Participate as needed in the provision of continuing education and in-service programs for the staff.
• Serve as an instructor of Rush University; prepare and give formal management related lectures to the medical technology students and/or pathology residents; be available to mentor and advise Health Systems Management students on specific projects or assignments.
• Be available to act as the Department of Pathology and Rush Medical Laboratories' representative on any ROPH, RUMC, RMH, RU, RSH or other appropriate committee, sub- committee or task force.
• Perform other reasonable and appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned by the AVP and Medical Laboratory Director.

• Be an advocate for the laboratories.
• Work well with other departments and healthcare providers to insure the best possible patient care.
• Should be well versed in Six Sigma and LEAN principles.
• Works with the management team and HR to spearhead Employee Engagement initiatives.
• Foster an environment that promotes Culture of Safety and Just Culture philosophies.
Other information:
**Education:** Bachelor's in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent; Master's degree in Business and or Healthcare Related Field required.
**Experience:** A minimum of seven years in a laboratory management role.
**Personal:** Must be well organized and good interpersonal and communication skills required
