    Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

     

    Job Type: Contract

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our organization’s database systems. The DBA will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of databases across various platforms. This role requires hands-on experience with database architecture, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Install, configure, and upgrade database software (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)

    + Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions as needed

    + Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and data integrity across all database platforms

    + Perform regular backups, restores, and data recovery operations

    + Implement and maintain security policies for user access and data privacy

    + Optimize SQL queries and indexes to improve application and database performance

    + Support development teams with database design, data modeling, and stored procedures

    + Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide 24/7 support when needed

    + Document all database processes and configurations

    + Monitor system resource usage and forecast future needs

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

    + 3+ years of experience as a DBA or in a related role

    + Proficiency with one or more major RDBMS platforms: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL

    + Strong SQL scripting and performance tuning skills

    + Experience with database backup, recovery, and security practices

    + Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL)

    + Knowledge of data replication, clustering, and high availability solutions

    + Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

    Preferred Skills:

    + Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)

    + Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible or PowerShell scripting

    + Exposure to DevOps pipelines and CI/CD integration for databases

    + Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle DBA, or AWS Certified Database Specialty
