*The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is seeking an Assistant Professor for the Institute for Educators**within the Partnerships, Professional Education, and Practice (PPEP) Department. *This position will work closely with entry-level nursing students on NCLEX success (50%) as well as working with faculty to support their development (50%). This position will carry a teaching workload in the Institute for Educators Teaching Certificate program and as needed in the departments of Organizational Systems and Adult Health (OSAH) and Family and Community Health (FCH). This position will be based at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus. The Institute for Educators offers a 12-credit graduate teaching certificate, provides individual and group faculty development, and partners with stakeholders within and outside of the school and across the state to drive faculty excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service at this nationally ranked school of nursing. The Institute’s two-part mission is: * Preparing nurses for academic faculty roles or educator roles in clinical settings * Providing ongoing professional development for academic faculty and educators in clinical settings The Institute for Educators faculty candidate will have academic and professional experience in nursing or another health-related field and will uphold and advance the UMB and UMSON core values. They will contribute to student and faculty success in the following ways. *Essential Functions in Teaching, Scholarship, Service, and Leadership* */Teaching/* 1. Plan and implement NCLEX Success strategies to support entry level students and faculty (BSN and MSN-E programs) in their preparation for NCLEX. 2. Plan and implement faculty development and for new and existing faculty across the teaching, scholarship, and service domains. 3. Apply creative and innovative ideas to help faculty navigate the complexities of teaching and learning at the university level. 4. Teach graduate and doctoral students in online and classroom environments. 5. Advise and prepare graduate students for careers as educators and/or faculty. 6. Demonstrate and role model teaching excellence and best practices in adult learning and evidence-based teaching design and delivery. 7. Design and/or revise courses within the teaching certificate program. 8. Integrate current technologies in both asynchronous and synchronous online and face to face education. 9. Promote student, faculty and institutional learning through assessment that is tied to equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students, including reviewing NCLEX and computer assisted test performance report cards to develop strategic plans of study for students. */Scholarship and Service/* 1. Serve as an expert teaching resource and consultant for UMSON faculty and staff. 2. Collaborate in developing, planning, and implementing, and evaluating learning experiences ranging from individual consultation/coaching to large conferences that meet faculty development needs. 3. Coordinate on and off-campus learning experiences related to teaching and learning (i.e., practice, service learning, simulation, NCLEX) 4. Seek and fulfill opportunities for personal professional development in relevant aspects of the faculty role. */Leadership/* 1. Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication. 2. Represent the Institute and/or the School of Nursing at local, statewide, and national meetings. 3. Demonstrate evidence of interprofessional collaboration and activities with campus and clinical partners 4. Participant and/or lead intramural or extramural grant funding initiatives 5. Assume the full scope of a UMSON faculty role including teaching, scholarship, and service to meet requirements for advancement with the School of Nursing and the University. * Earned doctorate degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or Health Education * Demonstrated leadership abilities. * Experience with program planning and implementation * Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching face-to-face and/or online in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing or health professions program at an accredited academic institution * Experience preparing undergraduate students for NCLEX-RN exams. * Competence with instructional technology across various learning environments * A collaborative approach to assessment for learning that reaches across disciplines and schools. * Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification is preferred. * Evidence of recent scholarly productivity and dissemination related to education, teaching, and learning. * Spirit of inquiry and a willingness to develop programs to amplify teaching and learning research and scholarship. * Exceptional interpersonal communication and teamwork * Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and students. * Commitment to uphold and contribute to an environment inclusion and academic humility in the work/learning space. *Salary*: $122,000 *Benefits Information:* UMB offers a generous benefits package that includes 22 vacation days, 14 floating and holidays, 15 sick days; comprehensive health insurance and retirement options; and tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any of the University System of Maryland schools. /UMB is committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce and is proud to be an equal employment opportunity employer.
