Human Resources (HR) Manager - Engineering & Construction Services

Due to continued growth in 2025, we are eager to add an experienced Human Resources Manager to our in-house HR Team at our headquarters located in South Hackensack, NJ. This Manager, reporting directly to General Counsel, will collaborate with our Management Team, Department Heads and technical staff and support our growing 300+ Employees. They will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, ensuring legal compliance, managing Employee Relations, Benefits Administration (including enhancements) and Performance Management systems as well as fostering a positive and productive work environment within our firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Leadership
+ Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the company's overall business goals, focusing on attracting, retaining, and developing talent within the specific context of engineering and construction
Employee Relations
+ Address employee concerns, grievances, and conflicts, maintaining a positive and inclusive work environment
Legal Compliance
+ Ensure the company adheres to all relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry standards, including OFCCP, VEVRRA, EEOC, DOL and States
Compensation and Benefits
+ Manage compensation and benefits programs, including salary structures, performance-based bonuses, and benefits design that are attractive to Licensed Engineers, Construction workers and Project Managers at all levels
Performance Management
+ Implement and oversee performance management systems, providing feedback and coaching to employees, and ensuring alignment with company goals
HRIS Systems – Reports, Data and Analytics
+ Utilize HRIS and other tools to track HR metrics, analyze trends, and provide data-driven insights to support HR decision-making and may support selection and implementation of new ATS and other systems
Training and Development
+ Actively support Boswell Academy and identifying, developing and tracking company training & EE development
Partnerships
+ Collaborate with senior leadership, other departments, and external stakeholders to achieve HR objectives
Required Skills and Experience:
HR Experience Required
+ A proven track record of at least 10+ years in Human Resources within a Professional Services organization (including engineering, construction), with a minimum of 3+ years in a Manager role including Team Leadership and HRIS systems implementation and maintenance
Industry Knowledge
+ Experience in the construction, engineering and electric utilities industries is required.
Education
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources is required while Master’s Degree is highly preferred. An HR Certification (either PHR and/ or SPHR) is required.
Strategic Thinking
+ Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company objectives
Leadership and Communication
+ Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
Legal Compliance Knowledge with Internal Audit experience
+ A thorough & ongoing understanding of employment laws, regulations, and industry standards including OFCCP, EEO, VEVRAA
Problem-Solving Skills
+ Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to address employee issues and ensure a positive work environment
