• Traffic Operations Engineer, Entry Level

    You’ll contribute to projects that improve roadway safety, reduce congestion, and shape the future of mobility across communities. Whether it’s optimizing a signal corridor, evaluating crash data, or supporting multimodal corridor studies, you’ll grow alongside experienced mentors while making a tangible impact.

    What you will do:

    + Assist in delivering diverse traffic and transportation projects—from traffic impact studies to safety assessments and feasibility analyses.

    + Analyze traffic data and evaluate transportation system performance using industry-standard tools.

    + Support the preparation of reports, graphics, presentations, and technical memos.

    + Help prepare proposals, cost estimates, and scopes of work with guidance from senior staff.

    + Participate in meetings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

    + Learn and apply modeling, simulation, and analytical software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, TransModeler, ArcGIS Pro, etc.).

    + Grow in your knowledge of national guidance (MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, AASHTO Green Book, etc.) and local agency standards.

    Requirements

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or related field. A master’s degree with a focus on Transportation is a plus.

    Experience:

    + 0–3 years of professional experience, including internships, co-ops, or research.

    Skills & Tools:

    + Familiarity with Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, or similar tools is helpful.

    + Basic programming or data skills (e.g., Python, R, Excel VBA, GIS) are a bonus.

    Certifications:

    + Engineering Intern (EI/EIT) certification, obtained or in progress preferred.

    The pay for this position has a range of $73,000 - $90,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
