    Job Description

    The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of State agencies through a variety of services including information technology project delivery, maintenance, and support. This position is within the DTMB Agency Support & Strategic Initiatives area supporting Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), Workers’ Compensation and Wage & Hour Division.

     

    We are looking for a person who understands the value of public service and wants to help us meet the needs of our citizens. Above all, we are looking for someone that is passionate about customer service and being a leader. This person must have professional knowledge of principles and techniques of management, communication, and organization required to direct and administer programs, objectives, and goals. We would love someone with advanced knowledge in application of information technology systems analysis and computer hardware operation. You must be able to lead, manage, administer, and maintain control of the environment in high-pressure situations. Strong communications skills are a must.

     

    This position will function as the information technology manager for DTMB Agency Services Supporting the LEO, Workers’ Compensation and Wage & Hour areas. The information technology manager will be the first line manager for this work area and will be responsible for carrying out management duties for their staff. The manager is responsible for leading the IT technical teams through the design, development, and implementation of software (.NET, SQL) and system plans and performs other project related activities. Managing content management sites, develops standard control mechanisms to manage IT software development products and updates including but not limited to risk management, quality assurance, and communication, issue and change management, and other project related controls. Manages the IT staff objectives that includes IT project efforts for completion within time and budget requirements, and to the customer's expectations. providing direction and control of functions and activities in the work area including establishing priorities, allocating staff, and allocating work for staff. The supervisory functions that this position manages include employee evaluation, counseling, selection, provision of technical and policy guidance and training of employees.

    Signing Bonus

    ITM 14:

    This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $3,500. Up to $1,750 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

     

    Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

    Required Education and Experience

    Education

    Possession of a bachelor's degree with not less than 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

    Experience

    Three years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure, Programmer/Analyst or IT Project Coordinator 12.

     

    Alternate Education and Experience

     

    Three years of experience as a computer programming supervisor or Information Technology

     

    Supervisor may be substituted for the education and experience.

    Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
