    Job Summary

    We are looking for a project manager with an understanding of human resources functions to support project and operational work for our team. Responsibilities include assisting the team by partnering with leaders across the university on projects and initiatives and assisting with employment life cycle activities including executive searches, recruitment, appointment and onboarding, the reappointment process, employee relations, succession planning, performance evaluation, executive compensation, and other HR-related processes.

     

    Skills you'll need to deploy in this role to be successful include identifying emerging issues and implementing stakeholder-focused solutions, having situational awareness, being proactive and managing ambiguity. A comfort level operating in a complex, ever-evolving environment is important.

     

    Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior HR Advisor, you will be on-site in Ann Arbor with the opportunity for a hybrid schedule based on operational needs. Responsibilities may fall outside of traditional working hours given the time-sensitive nature of the work in the office.

    Responsibilities*

    + Support projects for our office including developing project plans, timelines, teams and other resources; complete project deliverables with high-quality outputs in mind.

    + Take initiative to identify and lead new project opportunities.

    + Navigate complex environments and oversee multi-departmental university projects.

    + Manage full cycle executive searches including timelines, preparing for committee meetings, stakeholder communications and expenses.

    + Use survey tools for data collection and perform analysis to inform recommendations and support decision-making.

    + Prepare reports on workforce trends and HR activities while collaborating with internal partners.

    + Develop HR-related processes and guidelines for our department and administer processes that support our goals of ensuring a positive employee experience.

    + Engage, communicate with and influence senior leadership and stakeholders at alllevels.

    + Create resources, job aids, and educational materials.

    + Build skills towards consulting on employee relations issues.

    + Be a contact for appointment changes and process HR transactions.

    + Monitor contract terms for budgeting and forecasting.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + 5+ years of applied experience using project management best practices.

    + Intermediate-level proficiency with HR systems, data query and project managementtools.

    + Knowledge and applied experience in the full cycle talent management function with some time spent in executive searches.

    + Knowledge of HR trends and best practices.

     

    Underfill Statement

     

    This position may be underfilled at a lower classification, depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The salary range for the lower classification (Project Manager Intermediate) is $75,000 - $85,000. See more information in the full Job Description.

    Salary Information

     

    The posting range for this position is $85,000 - $92,000. This posting range reflects multiple factors involved in determining compensation, such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and other organizational needs. It is not common for new hires to be offered a salary at the upper end of the range. Compensation decisions are based on the details of each situation.
