As a Lab Technician II, you will be responsible for specific laboratory specimens, orders, and information disposition. A caregiver in this role performs specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems and performs general lab and quality assurance procedures. While this position is based out of Hillcrest Hospital, you may be required to float to multiple locations.

A caregiver in this position works variable shifts from 7:00AM - 3:30PM or 5:00AM - 1:30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.

+ Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.

+ Perform specimen investigation procedures to resolve lab specimen issues or problems.

+ Verify accurate documentation relative to specimen processing.

+ Maintain patient, specimen and tracking data using the laboratory computer system, tracking and software/devices.

+ Prepare specimens for analysis and accept or reject specimens.

+ Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Associate's Degree or equivalent OR three years of progressive lab experience

+ One year of lab experience

Physical Requirements:

+ Typical physical demands include visual acuity and the ability to distinguish colors; manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment; may require extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.

Personal Protective Equipment:

+ Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
