The Product Engineer I will promote Sales of Misumi products through design communication with customers (email & phone), manufacturing coordination, and special engineering related projects as needed.
Job Responsibilities
Customer Support
+ Process custom quoting opportunities between customers and manufacturers (domestic and overseas) to capture new business and support existing business
+ Review customer 2D drawings for completeness; compare with 3D model when available and resolve any discrepancies
+ Serve as the primary point of contact to clearly communicate customer requirements to manufacturers through both verbal and written communication; ensure customer needs are accurately conveyed and understood.
+ Maintain internal daily logs, databases, and other team documentation
+ Ensure customer satisfaction by clearly communicating customer requirements such as product specifications and delivery schedule to backend manufacturing
+ Provide internal and external technical design support and education for products including materials, surface finishes, fits, tolerances, and sizing via phone, email, and internal training
+ Ensure compliance to quality; work with Customer Service and Procurement on quality claims; obtain and review quality inspection documents from manufacturing as needed
Cross-Functional Cooperation
+ Collaborate closely with internal teams including Engineering, Operations, Product, Customer Service, and Procurement to ensure customer needs are understood and met across all functions.
+ Support cross-team initiatives and as needed, engage in responsibilities that span across different teams within the ID organization.
Sales
+ Promote and educate customers such as design engineers, mechanical engineers, buyers or other professional and technical personnel on custom products and services to increase sales
+ Provide product and design support including manufacturing capability and capacity to increase usage in customer designs
+ Work collaboratively with the Sales team to achieve growth goals and understand market requirements
Other
+ Other responsibilities may include supplier and manufacturing development, manufacturing kaizen, product development, or as needed by the organization.
+ Travel requirements – very minimal
Job Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automation, or Industrial Engineering.
+ 1-3 years of relevant experience.
+ Sizing and specifying Industrial Automation components; hands on experience a plus
+ Working knowledge of 3D CAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint), SQL, VB, VBA (plus)
+ Print manufacturing analysis experience a plus
+ Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and conflict management skills
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills
+ Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
+ Highly motivated, organized, responsible, possess leadership, and results oriented
+ Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment preferred
Pay Rate: a base salary in the 65k to 70k range plus an annual bonus.
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location and prevailing minimum wage, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
