GENERAL SUMMARY
The Thrift Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the operations of Cape Abilities Thrift. This position manages the overall store strategy, operations, staff, and volunteers while ensuring the store integrates effectively with Cape Abilities clinical programs and delivers an exceptional customer experience.
The Thrift Manager collaborates closely with the Assistant Manager and other internal and external stakeholders to drive operational excellence, maintain high standards of merchandise quality and presentation, and fulfill the store's mission as an extension of Cape Abilities' community services.
This role requires strong leadership skills, retail management experience, and a passion for creating an inclusive work environment that supports Cape Abilities' broader organizational goals while maintaining a profitable and well-run thrift operation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
• Provides leadership and supervision to the Assistant Manager and all thrift staff.
• Oversees hiring and training of staff and volunteers at Cape Abilities Thrift.
• Ensures operational efficiency by identifying challenges and implementing process improvements that eliminate waste, reduce errors and improve experience.
• Partners with VP of Business Operations to create and adhere to annual program budgets, goals and objectives.
• Establishes and maintains productive connections with community stakeholders and businesses that align with and enhance Cape Abilities' mission objectives.
• Identifies and evaluates potential opportunities to enhance revenue streams, expand vocational options, and strengthen community presence and involvement.
• Collaborates with Director of Vocational Services to provide meaningful employment opportunities for vocational program participants.
• Oversees the functions of the Assistant Manager and staff, stepping in to cover those functions when needed.
• Oversees cash management, bank deposits, daily sales receipts, product invoices and delivery of documents to headquarters.
• Coordinates with Marketing and Communications team to establish and sustain a polished marketing approach that ensures ongoing community awareness.
• Assists with pick-ups as needed.
• Works collaboratively in a matrixed organization and consistently demonstrate excellent stakeholder management at all levels of the organization.
• Attends all staff meetings, trainings and development activities, as required.
• Maintains an inclusive and positive work environment for people with disabilities.
• Serves as mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC).
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• May provide assistance at other retail locations or promotional events, as requested.
• Performs additional duties, as assigned.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Minimum of 5 years retail management experience.
• Excellent management, interpersonal and team building skills.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts.
• Knowledge of computer software applications including word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Willingness to work outside in inclement weather.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
• Supervises all Thrift staff including volunteers.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Frequent standing.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
