This position exists to assist project staff with the Private Well Program and grant management in the East Metro Unit of the Remediation Division. The primary focus of the East Metro Unit is to implement actions necessary to respond to PFAS releases in the east metropolitan area (East Metro) of the Twin Cities as a result of the 2018 Settlement between the State of Minnesota and 3M (Settlement).
This position will assist senior staff with the Private Well Program that includes extensive communication with private well owners, coordination with contractors, and data management for private well sampling and other environmental assessment projects conducted under terms of the Settlement. This position will also be responsible for assisting senior staff with implementing approved projects, including grant management, under the terms of the Settlement and the Conceptual Drinking Water Supply Plan developed for the East Metro.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of environmental protection experience OR
A Bachelor's degree in environmental protection or related science field AND one year of professional environmental protection experience.
AND
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Ability to gain understanding of the environmental regulatory process and state and federal rules.
Basic computer skills with proficiency in Word and exposure to Excel and PowerPoint.
Good communication and human relations skills to interact effectively with stakeholders and team members.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with public communications efforts regarding health impacts from contaminants and environmental projects.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficiency with database management and software including ArcGIS and EQulS applications.
Ability to work independently and prioritize daily work in alignment with larger project goals and deliverables.
Ability to take work direction from senior staff or supervisor and proactively communicate with team or others, when appropriate.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small equipment. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
Additional Requirements
Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
