About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Secure Network Services Organization as part of our Automation & Innovation Team.
The role will provide technical direction, envision, document and champion target state associated with developing the right Network Automation solutions across all Network Systems.
Advise leadership on complex solutions for Network Automation
Lead resolutions of complex challenges, developing strategic engineering solutions and maintaining knowledge of innovations.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in architecting and designing solutions that promote reusability, scalability, efficiency and resiliency and possess strong communication skills to articulate the proposed solutions with both technical and business partners
Assist on mitigating risk for the enterprise by proactively addressing capacity problems or system related issues under guidance of Network Services Management, as well as Wells Fargo enterprise standards and policies. Assist teams in technical problem resolution.
In this role, you will:
+ Lead the review, resolution and implementation for the most complex technical issues and initiatives related to Automation of large-scale network applications, data systems, voice and other technical products and services
+ Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
+ Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
+ Provide vision, direction, and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
+ Utilizing Ansible orchestration and Python scripting to simplify high volume and/or high-risk tasks for business partners
+ Utilize your knowledge and experience working with Nautobot, Netmiko, Nornir, Napalm, APIs, Django and JSON to build modern Automation Solutions
+ Evaluate or review queries to extract data, create standard procedures, or perform limited programming to fine tune systems supported
+ Research performance trends and recommend process improvements
+ Perform complex migrations from development to production, upgrades, installations and configurations
+ Make decisions in security and regulatory policies to design and implement foolproof secured network solutions
+ Assess changes for risk to production systems and assure quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported areas
+ Identify gaps in current technology processes and recommend changes to assure Service Level Agreements can be supported
+ Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision & Application Roadmaps
+ Translate the business vision and goals to target state application roadmaps with clear options for any tactical versus strategic trade-offs
+ Decompose future state goals into actionable execution plans
Architecture Principles and Standards
+ Develop technical standards, guidelines, and reference architectures based on industry trends and best practices including microservices and cloud deployments
+ Documenting architectural standards, best practices, and mentoring application teams on developing highly distributed, resilient, and responsive applications
Architecture Diagrams & Documentation
+ Author and maintain application use case, sequence, system context, and topology diagrams
+ Document integration patterns and options
+ Document Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery capabilities for applications
Solution Designs
+ Facilitate buy versus build decisions and options
+ Assist development teams to produce Automation development strategies in alignment with the overall strategy and priorities established by senior leadership
+ Design solutions that are fit for purpose, scalable and evolvable
+ Translates business requirements into well-architected recommendations supporting working foundational platform components thus ensuring functional and non-functional aspects are met
+ Promote Loosely coupled, event-driven architectures working within an agile team
+ Evaluating any project constraints and devising alternatives to reduce risks, whilst performing process re-engineering
+ Conducting regular evaluations of the system architecture and collaborating with project management teams to improve the designs
+ Performing continuous research on emerging technologies to stay updated with the best alternatives and to improve the existing architectures
+ Work with engineers to Build, test, and present proofs of concept to demonstrate software architectures and patterns as well as help prove out the best options
Define technology stacks that is appropriate to the project requirements and constraints
Required Qualifications, US:
+ 7+ years of Software Development experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
+ 5+ years of advanced scripting experience using Ansible, Python, YAML, Java, or PL-SQL
+ 5+ years of experience developing and using RESTful Application Program Interface (API)
+ 5+ years of experience with Linux OS environment
+ 2-5+ years of experience with source version control using GitHub or similar
+ Experience with creating and or updating technical design documentation used by engineering teams
Desired Qualifications:
+ Agile methodology experience
+ Knowledge/Skills/Ability to identify key issues, involve affected parties, design solutions, obtain buy-in, and communicate effectively through resolution
+ Experience working in a large enterprise environment
+ BS/BA degree or higher in information technology or equivalent work experience accepted
+ Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skill
+ Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management
+ Ability to manage initiatives including detailed planning, process management, and documentation
+ Experience in process Improvement (6 Sigma), solution implementation, and change management
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
