General Requirements:

High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. College or continued education courses in management, public safety, or communications desirable. Experience in a related field preferred.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Ensures safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned routes.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Operates the SHSU Kat Tracks shuttle bus to transport students from the SHSU campus to HEB , Walmart, and Target. Follows assigned route and adheres to established schedules. Checks bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notifies supervisor of needed repairs. Reports all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Completes required reports. Keeps assigned bus clean and fueled. Inspects bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving. Ensures proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crowbar, and reflector. Attends and completes required training program to maintain safety certification. Performs other related duties as assigned.
