    Our client in Oak Brook, IL is seeking a skilled SQL Developer with foundational Database Administration (DBA) skills to join their growing team. This role requires expertise in developing and optimizing SQL code, handling migrations and upgrades, performance tuning, and executing related database tasks. The ideal candidate will support both backend operations and development, ensuring databases run efficiently while aligning with technological and business requirements.     Key Responsibilities:

    + SQL Development:

    + Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and scripts to support application development and reporting needs.

    + Create data models, optimized database schemas, and views to meet business objectives.

    + Collaborate with development teams to integrate backend database requirements into applications.

    + Database Administration:

    + Perform database migrations, upgrades, and installations with a focus on minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.

    + Monitor database systems, identifying and resolving issues like deadlocks, bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.

    + Back up, restore, and maintain databases with appropriate recovery strategies to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.

    + Performance Tuning:

    + Conduct thorough database performance analysis and resolve issues related to query execution and index optimization.

    + Analyze execution plans, optimize slow-performing queries, and implement best practices to improve overall database performance.

    + Identify areas for database optimization and propose solutions for scalability.

    + Collaboration and Support:

    + Work closely with business analysts, development teams, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical database solutions.

    + Provide guidance and mentorship to development teams on database best practices.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    Technical Skills:

    + Proven expertise in SQL Server Development (versions 2016 and later preferred).

    + Strong SQL query development skills, including creating complex joins, subqueries, Window functions, and indexes.

    + Foundational experience in DBA tasks, including database installations, upgrades, migrations, data backups, recovery, and monitoring.

    + Solid experience with performance tuning techniques, including execution plan analysis, index optimization, and partitioning strategies.

    + Knowledge of ETL Processes and familiarity with tools like SSIS is a plus.

    + Exposure to reporting tools like Power BI or SSRS is desirable.

    Experience:

    + 3+ years of SQL development experience, including writing complex queries and stored procedures.

    + 1-3 years of experience with DBA tasks, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades for Microsoft SQL Server databases.

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field—or equivalent experience.

    Soft Skills:

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

    + Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    + Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently on assigned tasks.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Familiarity with cloud database solutions, such as Azure or AWS, is a plus.

    + Experience in automation scripting for database processes.

    + Exposure to database security practices, such as encryption and access controls.
