    Description

    Robert Half is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) for our client in Oak Brook, IL. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on expertise in database management, optimization, and troubleshooting, along with a strong commitment to maintaining data integrity, security, and availability. This role involves collaborating with teams across IT and business operations while ensuring the client's database infrastructure operates at peak performance.     Key Responsibilities:

    + Database Administration:

    + Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, testing, and production environments.

    + Perform database tuning, optimization, and analysis to improve system performance and reliability.

    + Manage database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and redundancy.

    + Monitoring and Maintenance:

    + Implement and maintain database monitoring solutions to proactively identify issues or performance bottlenecks.

    + Conduct capacity planning to ensure scalability and adequate database resources.

    + Security and Compliance:

    + Ensure data security by implementing robust security protocols (e.g., access controls, encryption, audits).

    + Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies regarding data handling and storage.

    + Collaboration and Support:

    + Work closely with application developers to provide database support for project implementations.

    + Assist end-users and business stakeholders with database queries and reporting needs.

    + Provide recommendations for database system improvements and upgrades.

    + Documentation:

    + Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database designs, configuration changes, and operational procedures.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    + Technical Skills:

    + Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and later versions preferred).

    + Expertise in SQL scripting, query optimization, and stored procedure development.

    + Experience with database replication, mirroring, clustering, and high-availability solutions.

    + Knowledge of performance analysis tools like SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and Query Store.

    + Familiarity with reporting and analytics tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI) is a plus.

    + Experience:

    + 3+ years of proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator in a fast-paced environment.

    + Demonstrated experience with data backups, restores, and disaster recovery models.

    + Education & Certifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

    + Relevant certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate are desirable.

    + Soft Skills:

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

    + Effective communication and collaboration abilities to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
